#fvwm #mwm #wm #wayland Hello everyone, and Happy Easter! I've been busy trying to get to this point, and now I’m releasing cow! cow, is a "Compositor on Wayland", which aims to look-and-feel like mwm and fvwm from X11, but instead running on wayland. codeberg.org/thomasadam/cow

I know the Guardian #prize #crypticcrossword #crossword means just that -- shush! But today's Prize: theguardian.com/crosswords/p… by Vlad is amazing. In particular: "20ac: 'WG rejected cricket practice, having picked up a hundred previously" Wow! Bugger! :)

In #29618, @__Tramp had a clue, "Wearing spectacles to show wisdom (8)". It's brilliant. The def is "wisdom". Spectacles immediately makes me think of "OO" (for glasses). No! "Wearing" = "IN", plus "SIGHTS" for "spectacles" (beholds). Amazing!

Hey @__Tramp -- I'd love to pick your brains re sometime -- I know you've rightly said one should not meet their heroes -- heck, in asking you this, I'm breaking that. But should you have a few moments, I'd love to indulge you if you've the time.

I've written up some notes on the differences between #xorg and #wayland and how this affects the xorg window managers: gist.github.com/ThomasAdam/5…

It’s @__Tramp in the Guardian today. Prize 29422. This is turning out to be a stunner of a crossword. Thanks so far, Tramp! I’m 2/3rds through. 13dn reminded me of my youth for one of the pops. 🙂. Struggling to parse 16ac but have an answer.

Karl Wallinger, songwriter, World Party frontman and Waterboys member dies bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment… Sad news. World Party was great. Time to listen to ‘Is It Like Today?’ at full volume!

“Morning. How’d you like your tea?”, or perhaps, shout “ten thousand words in a cardboard box” (The Aquarian Age). #twink is amazing.

#urgeforoffal by half man half biscuit is a masterpiece album. Even beating the hilariously named LP, “CSI Ambleside”. On #urgeforoffal is the wonderful “Bain of Constance”. Midge Ure does indeed look like a milk thief!

I’m a huge fan of the minidisc format. Bought many used on eBay. Today, listening to a random one, there’s a recording of the wonderful Rainbow Ffolly’s ‘Sallies Fforth’ LP. I love this band. “Montgolfier” is a brilliant track.

Well, my evening is mostly looking like I’ll be listening to the wonderful Chris Spedding. One of the best session guitarists of all time. Bored bored? Not at all!

He released a few solo albums. Backwards Progression is the one I own.

Today’s cryptic crossword by Paul (29116) had this gem in it: “4, wetter setter? (5,7)”. Where, 4 == “POND LIFE”. Hence, the answer is “WATER BOATMAN”. Nice in-joke. I’m sure @BoatmanCryptics agrees!

Indeed! Nutmeg was a superb setter. As a solver, I learned a lot from her about succinct cluing and fun wordplays. I will miss her crosswords.
