Freya saw the importance of RPZs in Ireland as she helped Kathleen, the case study in our Q1 2025 Impact Report. Kathleen is a pensioner in her late 70s who received a €900 rent increase. Luckily, RPZs expanded to include her home just in time, meaning she stayed in her home.

Kathleen's story Kathleen, a pensioner in her 70s, faced losing her home. Her landlord wished to raise the rent by €900. Just before her RTB hearing, RPZs expanded to include her home. She stayed in her home with an agreed 2% increase, in line with RPZ regulations.
