Jun 14, 1993: Happy Birthday to Sammy Watkins. He shattered many records while at #Clemson 2011-13. After his freshman year he was named a first team Associated Press All-American, becoming only the fourth true freshman to be so honored. Watkins went on to play nine NFL seasons.

Jun 13, 2010: #Clemson cranked out 20 hits as they swamped Alabama 19-5 to even out the Super Regional at DKS. Fifteen of the Tiger runs came in two innings. Pitcher Scott Weismann got his 8th win of the year with 6 solid innings.

Jun 12, 1978: Birthdate of former #Clemson RB Travis Zachery, who played for the Tigers from 1998-2001. Zachery is still 7th all time on the rushing yards list with 3,058 on 691 carries, along with 60 pass receptions. He also scored 41 TDs (16 of them in 1999).

Jun 10, 2006: In the Super Regional championship game, #Clemson found itself once again trailing Oral Roberts late. But SS Stan Widmann put an exclamation point on a rally with a two run go ahead single. The 6-5 final gave the Tigers a 36-5 record at DKS for 2006. On to Omaha!

June 9, 2006: The Oral Roberts Eagles scored 3 in the top of the 9th to put host #Clemson in a Super Regional hole. In the bottom of the 9th, Tyler Colvin responded with a walk-off grand slam to end it 11-8, evening the series and giving the Tigers their 51st win of the year.

Jun 8, 1983: In 2006, at the close of a stellar career at #Clemson, Gaines Adams was named to 5 different All-American teams and was one of only 7 unanimous choices. He was the 4th overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. Gaines died in 2010 from a previously unknown heart condition.

Jun 7, 2010: Despite getting 18 hits, host Auburn never led in this regional championship game against #Clemson. The Tigers from the Plains lost 13-7 and the Tigers from the Lake moved on to the Tuscaloosa Super Regional.

Jun 6, 2004: The Tigers were fighting to stay in the hunt in the Athens Regional. They fell behind the Bulldogs 2-9, but two big homers off of the #Clemson bats gave them a 10-9 comeback win. In the championship game, the Bulldogs used the long ball to send the Tigers home.

Jun 5, 2005: Virginia had #Clemson’s number in the ACC Tournament the week before, but that didn’t prevent the Tigers from hosting a Regional. They beat Oral Roberts 8-3 in the 3rd game of that Regional to sweep it and would then move on to a Super Regional.

June 4: #Clemson football fans remember two standout Tigers who died on Jun 4. In 2005, Banks McFadden passed away at 88. He was one of the first two sport All-Americans. In 2018, Dwight Clark departed this world at 61. The 249th NFL draft pick, he played 9 seasons for the 49ers.

Jun 2, 1996: #Clemson eliminates Oklahoma St from the College World Series with an 8-5 ten inning thriller. The game was tied 5-5 going into the 10th, and Jason Embler got the rally started by driving in the go ahead run. Two more scores cinched it for the Tigers.

May 30, 2003: #Clemson wins the NCAA team golf championship, played in Stillwater OK, winning by 2 strokes over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. In the picture below, Jack Ferguson sinks the putt which clinched the championship for Tigers.

May 29, 2016: #Clemson wraps up its 15th ACC Baseball Championship overall (and 10th tournament championship) in fine style, outslugging Florida State 18-13. Including weather delays, the game, played in Durham, took 9 hours and 20 minutes to complete (3:31 actual game time).

May 28, 1976: Annie Tribble is named #Clemson’s second women’s basketball coach. She replaced grad student Mary King, who coached the team in its inaugural season. Tribble would coach the Tigers through the 1986-87 season, winning 200 games before she retired.

May 27, 2006: #Clemson loses the first game against GT in the ACC Tournament semi-finals, but wins the second. The loss ended a 17 game win streak, the 4th longest in program history. The Tigers would eventually make it to Omaha, where they would face (and beat) Tech again.

May 26, 2000: Khalil Greene’s hitting streak comes to an end at 20 games. During the streak, Greene hit .458 (38 hits in 83 at bats) with 25 RBIs. It ranks 20th in hitting streak lengths in #Clemson baseball history.
