Stellar work from @Charlotttiie10 and @LabRaleigh !!
How do "benign" meningiomas grow? And can we tell if they're benign using non-invasive tests? @Charlotttiie10 from @LabRaleigh answers both of these question in a collaboration with @dlswaney, now online in @NatureComms. @NeurosurgUCSF @UCSFCancer @UCSF. rdcu.be/dTqVb

Paris Olympics watch out
A green alga cell can swim 100 microns per second. Scientists put little baskets on a wheel. As algae became trapped, they pushed and spun the wheel around.

If you’re in the mud in your PhD program, don’t fret. Your project will come together exactly at a time that will surprise and delight you. Your last year will be filled with discoveries and I promise, the time you went through the mud will have all been worth it. ☀️

Absolutely amazing. Nothing cooler than the intersection of genetics, developmental biology, and evolution!

How did we lose our tail? A simple question.. but it wasn't really asked before! We discovered a plausible scenario for the genetic mechanism that led to tail loss. Amazing that such a big change may have been caused by such a small genetic event. nature.com/articles/s41586-0… @BoXia7
