Today’s Treasure from my collection: Remembering Carey Scurry (great basketball name!), who recently passed away at age 63. When I lived in Phoenix in the 80’s I used to get there early for layup/dunk lines when the Jazz were in town due to him and Darrell Griffith.

Today’s Treasure from my collection: 5/17/76 Fifty years ago today the ABA graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, which would turn out be the last hurrah for the league. This classic image captures the colorful nature & coolness of the ABA, with Dr. J & Chuck Williams in action.

Today’s Treasure from my collection: Remembering Brandon Clarke, who recently passed away at age 29. I first noticed him at San Jose State & then his stardom at Gonzaga. For me he ranks right up there for being a “quick jumper”, meaning not having to gather or even take a step.

Today’s Treasure from my collection: Remembering Alfredrick Hughes, who recently passed away at age 63. Back in the 1980’s the hoop world didn’t know about Sister Jean yet, but they took note of Hughes lighting it up for the Loyola Chicago Ramblers.

Today’s Treasure from my collection: I watched with interest the new film on Prime, Jerry West: The Logo. Mr. West was a reluctant celebrity, but even when rushed he found the sweet spot & gave his unique penmanship on this photo, inked decades ago at a SoCal Summer League game.

At the end of the day, the allure — and the monstrous payday that certainly would have come with it — of playing for college basketball’s most storied programs wasn’t enough to drag Jake Hall away from New Mexico. sfnm.co/3Oy5Vic

Today’s Treasure from my collection: Remembering Oscar Schmidt, who recently passed away at age 68. He would be more well known in the United States, but prior to 1992 if you played in the NBA you lost the ability to play for your national team & Oscar remained loyal to Brazil.

What a privilege to be the auction house to offer such an incredible piece.
Really wanted this rare Pete Hill Baltimore Black Sox contract! It’s in an online auction tonight but bidding is nuts! Looks like it’s going to fetch $75k or more. Hill was a great outfielder and was inducted into the HOF in ‘06! @MLB @MLBTheShow @Royals @MLBPA

Today’s Treasure from my collection: Now that The Fab Five are absolved of the rough part of their pasts why is it that Coach Steve Fisher is still not in the Basketball Hall of Fame? With the platform The Fab Five has I put it on them to lead the campaign to get Coach Fisher in.

Today’s Treasure from my collection: My son Bryce & I enjoyed the recent Final Four in Indianapolis. It was my 24th & Bryce’s 5th. Along with the games it is fun to mingle at this celebration of basketball with friends & coaches (like Jim Harrick pictured here).

Today’s Treasure from my collection: I was waiting by Pacers locker room to get autographs after a game circa 1976. A security guard gave me a tip… “You should get that blond headed boy leaning against the wall over there. He’s going to play for Indiana State.” Inked this index.
