When Donald Trumpโs special envoy to Greenland, Jeff Landry, arrived in Nuuk on Sunday, he was accompanied by physician Joseph Griffin, who told Danish broadcaster TV2 News that he had traveled to gain insight into Greenlandโs healthcare system.
However, Greenlandโs Department of Health told Sermitsiaq that it had not been contacted regarding any planned meetings.
โThe Department of Health and Persons with Disabilities is not aware of any plans for a meeting,โ the department stated.

According to Griffin, he is in Nuuk as a volunteer and has no affiliation with the U.S. government.
On Sunday, Greenlandic Health Minister Anna Wangenheim wrote on LinkedIn that she viewed the Americansโ approach as deeply problematic:
โIt is deeply problematic when individuals with a political mission to make Greenland part of the United States send a so-called โvolunteer doctorโ to Nuuk to โassess our needs.โโ
โGreenlanders are not test subjects in a geopolitical project,โ the minister wrote.

Today I'm remembering fellow vet and Lapplander Torsten Stรฅlnacke ( 1933 - 2012 ). Shot in his face on Sept 14th 1961 in Katanga, he had to undergo 33 reconstructive surgeries. Nevertheless he volunteered as a peacekeeper in Cyprus 1965 - 1968. I stand at attention Torsten !
