Asprey & Garrard represents one of the most fascinating chapters in 🇬🇧 British luxury history. #Garrard, founded in 1735, became the first official Crown Jeweller in 1843, crafting some of the most iconic pieces of the British monarchy, including settings for the #Cullinan diamonds. #Asprey, established in 1781, built its reputation on refined craftsmanship, offering jewelry, silverware, and luxury goods to aristocracy and global elites. In 1998, these two historic houses were merged into “Asprey & Garrard,” a short lived attempt to unite two symbols of #British elegance. However, the union lasted only a few years, as the brands were separated again in 2002 to restore their distinct identities. Garrard later continued independently, maintaining its royal heritage, while Asprey evolved into a broader luxury lifestyle brand. Though the merger failed commercially, it remains a remarkable moment in the story of British luxury where centuries of tradition briefly converged under one name. #Asprey #Garrard #BritishHeritage #LuxuryHistory #CrownJeweller #JewelleryHistory #RoyalJewels #VictorianEra #LuxuryBrands

Founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in La Côte-aux-Fées, 🇨🇭 Switzerland, Piaget began as a small family workshop devoted to high precision watch movements. Initially producing components for leading #Swiss watchmakers, the maison quickly gained recognition for its exceptional craftsmanship and technical mastery. In the mid 20th century, Piaget transformed from a specialist supplier into a true luxury house, introducing ultra thin watches that became symbols of elegance, innovation, and technical daring. By the late 1950s, the brand expanded into fine jewelry, merging bold artistic design with Swiss horological precision and redefining modern luxury aesthetics. Today, Piaget stands as a symbol of creativity and excellence, uniting watchmaking expertise with the art of high jewelry in timeless, distinctive creations. #Piaget #LuxuryJewelry #SwissWatchmaking #HauteHorlogerie #FineJewelry #LuxuryMaison #WatchHistory #TimelessElegance

In the second half of the 19th century, Carlo Giuliano emerged as one of the most refined jewellers of the #Victorian era. Born in 🇮🇹 Naples and later active in #London, he became renowned for his Renaissance Revival style, blending archaeological inspiration with exquisite craftsmanship. His creations, often set with enamel, pearls, and richly colored gemstones, were favored by aristocrats and collectors seeking pieces that felt both historic and innovative. Giuliano’s workshop helped define a taste for romantic historicism in jewellery design that still influences collectors today. Carlo Giuliano remains a symbol of artistry where history and luxury meet. #CarloGiuliano #VictorianJewellery #JewelleryHistory #RenaissanceRevival #19thCenturyArt #AntiqueJewels #LuxuryDesign #ArtHistory #Goldsmithing #HeritageCraft

What very sad news that Tony Head has passed over. We sang Happy Birthday when he starred in The Pirates of Penzance at the Savoy Theatre. A lovely man who was very generous with his time when we were filming down the line from the TV Studio. Sending his loved ones much comfort at this time.
