I grew up in Appalachia. People come in all colors, shapes, sizes.
Some white people have advantages at birth, some black people have advantages at birth.
All races experience poverty and trauma. There’s no magical privilege. Rich people fail. Poor people succeed.
“Everyday exists both a miserable king, and a happy servant.”
For example, LeBron’s kids have a higher than normal chance of pro basketball, and going to Harvard.
So do Trump’s kids, for Harvard. Is it black privilege that LeBron’s kids are athletically gifted? An have a much higher chance of being players? No. It’s life.
Life isn’t fair. Trying to teach kids it is, and balance it with money is a sham.
We can’t lie to them and live in fantasy. All children benefit from the truth, they’re capable and strong.
