British civil aviation from a heritage angle. Privileged to fly the B777 & previously the B737, B747 Classic & -400, B757, B767 & TriStar. Clearly more B than A
A smorgasbord of classic Boeing jetliners.
An energetic B737-200 used as an advertisement, followed by what appears to be the oldest operational B767-200, line no. 27. Aged 43, she was pipped 20 mins later by an inbound 1979, 47yo veteran B727-200. Just a normal day in Nairobi.
For those ever considering a visit to the USAF museum, nearby in Dayton is also the home of the Wright brothers. There are several sites but don’t miss the original Wright Flyer III from 1905, a truly inspirational aircraft showing the fragility of early human powered flight.
Time for some chrome (and polished aluminium) 😍
Part of the presidential air wing display at the huge USAF museum in Dayton, Ohio.
I can highly recommend a visit @AFmuseum
Low sun creating sunbeams through the scattered altocumulus cloud over the Caribbean Sea, whilst climbing out of Grand Cayman. A slightly earlier schedule than previously, and the sun being close to its zenith over GCM, meant an unusual daylight departure for us.
A little ray of Monarch sunshine on a cloudy bank holiday Monday. Such a lovely airframe & livery combination. The Bristol Britannia was such an elegant airliner, with impressive capability, but was eclipsed by the first jet airliners. Seen here on a recent visit to Duxford.
Without doubt, one of the most important speeches ever delivered by a British monarch. To me, as a regular visitor to the US, the King said what needed to be said. Respectfully & graciously. We’ve far more that unites us than divides us. Happy 250th USA 🇺🇸 youtube.com/live/XJitc-3D4lc…
Great registration, G-GBNI.
I’d never really clocked that before.

What a difference a month can make….
Last month I operated my longest flight, 14:55hr from take-off to touchdown. Tonight I’ll do my shortest, potentially just 18 mins, LHR 09R to LGW 08R. The 777 fleet always keeps it interesting !
Well that was fun. Just 18 mins take-off to touchdown and a new shortest flight record for me. In the past I’ve done LGW-LTN and LGW-Cambridge, but this was my first time operating between BA’s two 777 bases.
A O S upcoming for Artemis II….”Houston Integrity….do you read…”
Have a listen to “The Other Side” by Public Service Broadcasting as we await Acquisition of Signal (AOS) from Artemis II, for a feel of the tension in the room then, as Apollo 8 attempted to enter lunar orbit….
L O S coming up for Artemis II. Such a significant part of the Apollo 8 mission, as they fired their engine to enter lunar orbit. Had that failed to occur, they would have been lost in space. Today’s crew are on a “free return”, so no engine firing, but it’s still a major moment.
I was lucky to be able to fly one of our more unusual seasonal trips recently, to San Jose, Costa Rica. Operationally challenging, given the altitude & terrain, but what a beautiful country. We visited the unique Rio Celeste in the Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio🌋. No filters !!
Heading into the North Atlantic portion of the flight, having overflown Grand Turk, we were greeted by this active line of CBs to deviate around, near the Miami FIR and NY OCA boundary.
The one off “special” liveried BA B777-200ER, G-YMML, has just returned to LHR after being repainted, and is no longer wearing the “GREAT Festival of Creativity” livery she’s worn since early 2015. Thanks for the memories…
