Talk of Ben #Stokes getting a ban for his nightclub fracas or being sacked as captain. But his deputy is #HarryBrook, who's had a nightclub fracas of his own - and wasn't banned or sacked for it. So it makes no sense to replace one with the other. Just give Stokes a fine!

Chelsea were the better team, but United had the luck and, crucially, the experience. My comment piece for @united_writing, the newsletter I started with Rob Smyth, which is still free

If Putin really said this, he was speaking for all of us
Trump: “When I didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize. You gotta understand, I don't care. Norway has lost so credible. I stopped 8 wars… I do it the best. I stopped wars that nobody thought—President Putin called me, he said, 'I can't believe you stopped this one and this one.’”

Every week, in a free newsletter, I try to make sense of #ManUnited. It's a lot more rewarding now that #MichaelCarrick is at the wheel
At Bournemouth, United's best player wasn't Bruno Fernandes, for once. It was Matheus Cunha, who has added another string to his bow. @TimdeLisle on #Cunha's development under #Carrick and where this weekend leaves #MUFC open.substack.com/pub/united…

My take on #MUFC's first defeat under Michael Carrick: it shouldn't cost them much

"The government have actively avoided looking for evidence Russia interfered." The Intelligence & Security Committee's Stewart Hosie said the government didn't investigate alleged Russian interference in the Brexit vote, and no one wanted to touch this "with a ten-foot pole". The fact is that Russian interference is staring us in plain sight. Russian TV hugely boosted Farage's public standing by giving him dozens of appearances, and without Farage, Brexit would not have happened. Brexit was the result of a successful Russian influence operation. Please repost if you want Starmer to set up an inquiry into Russian interference in the Brexit referendum.

When punditry resembles sledging, it becomes bad punditry, because it loses its cool. When it parrots a sledge, it's even worse. Stokes had told his team to show some fight and that's what Archer was doing.
