Missa Capriolensis is a new work of the music of Peter Warlock reimagined as a setting of the mass by George Richford.

Honestly, the ‘report’ from the CofE shows we really are the titanic. The band (us lay ministers and true priests) play on but the ship is holed horrifically below the waterline. Rome’s call gets louder.

On a serious note, whoever wrote this report has a very different experience than mine. The M62 Biretta belt, South London, the Anglo-Catholic black-majority churches in Tottenham with congregational plainsong masses and a steel band next to me at the organ. I despair.

The singing was truly other worldly. Those not able to be with us have missed something very special. Thank you to all our singers and especially @TobyCharlesWard who brought the liturgy to life. Music like this doesn’t happen often or by accident.

Written 1507 upon the death of Philip the Handsome, Haps/Burgs archduke, and also sung for the death of his father the emperor, Max., in 1519.
