Morocco have been a step ahead of Brazil here. What a pass that is and what a finish. Not very often you’ll see Gabriel split apart and chasing like that, either. Early prediction going well about Brazil, too. Out early 👀

Just on Gabriel, it will be very interesting to see how he does in a more open system.

Brighton showed up TODAY. Thousands turned out for the Carnival Against Fascism as far-right group South East Patriots attempted to march through our city. Spotted in the crowd: Fatboy Slim. This is Brighton. No place for hate. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Far-right group South East Patriots attempted to march through Brighton city centre today. They were stopped on Queens Road by the Carnival Against Fascism, a coalition of more than 20 anti-racist groups who had been gathering since 11am. Sussex Police confirmed 2,500 people were in attendance. Officers maintained a safe distance between the two groups throughout the day. Five arrests were made in total. The first came before proceedings had even started, on suspicion of a public order offence on Queens Road. The second was for breaching the peace and assaulting a police officer. At 1:42pm Sussex Police confirmed three further arrests had been made. Fighting broke out on Queens Road between the two groups and was broken up by officers. Brighton legend Fatboy Slim, Norman Cook, was in the crowd and played a free set on the streets of his city. Council Leader Councillor Bella Sankey said in advance: “Don’t come. Your message of hatred is not welcome here. Brighton and Hove is a proudly diverse city.” We are continuing to monitor this story. Follow ImJustBrighton for updates as Sussex Police release more information. #Brighton #BrightonAndHove

DEEPLY frustrating that the 2026 World Cup Final won't be at the Azteca. Look at it. It's a football cathedral.

My prediction for the World Cup isn’t about any winner or big loser, I just think Ronaldo’s gonna get injured but ‘play through it every game’ and cost Portugal.

When Russia hosted the World Cup in 2018, it had to suspend normal visa rules for the tournament. Foreigners with tickets could enter visa-free, using a scheme called ‘Fan ID.’ Russia also had to do weird stuff to keep FIFA’s sponsors happy. For example, small shops near Fan Zones and stadiums could only sell Budweiser beer on match days. So yes, FIFA absolutely does dictate conditions to host governments when it suits FIFA. Infantino pretending otherwise is nonsense.
Infantino was asked by a BBC journalist if he's embarrassed by what has come to pass and does he accept he's lost control of his tournament here. His response: “in 2035, the Women’s World Cup, I think, will be in the UK. Would you find it normal that FIFA will dictate to the British government who to let in the country and who not to let in?” #FIFAWorldCup

Two points: When Atletico inevitably lose Julian Alvarez for around €150m this summer, these tweets will be far too awkward. If I’m Andrea Berta & Arsenal, I’m submitting an offer ASAP. Atleti will bite their hand off to avoid Madrid/Barca right now
