Former NH Trump Campaign Co-Chair Bruce Breton Endorses Scott Brown in High-Stakes 2026 Senate Fight

WINDHAM, N.H. — One of the most influential figures within New Hampshire’s pro-Trump grassroots movement has stepped into the 2026 Senate race.
Bruce Breton, a former New Hampshire Trump campaign co-chair and newly re-elected Windham Selectman, has officially endorsed Republican candidate Scott Brown, a move that many activists say signals where the state’s America First grassroots are consolidating.
Among NHMAGA activists, Breton’s backing carries unusual weight. During the 2024 Trump campaign in New Hampshire, Breton emerged as one of the only high senior campaign leaders who worked directly with the volunteer networks responsible for the campaign’s ground strength across the state. While other campaign leadership often operated separately and often in opposition from grassroots organizers, Breton was one that maintained close ties with the movement that mobilized rallies, door-knocking operations, and local political organizing.
Because of that relationship, many grassroots activists view Breton as a trusted figure inside New Hampshire’s America First movement. His endorsement is now being interpreted by many supporters as a clear signal of where that movement’s support is heading in the Senate race.
Scott Brown acknowledged the endorsement publicly on X.
“ENDORSEMENT ALERT! 🇺🇸 I’m honored to have the endorsement of my good friend Bruce Breton,” Brown wrote. “Bruce has been a longtime fighter for freedom in New Hampshire, a passionate advocate for the people, and a strong voice in the Granite State’s liberty movement.”

Brown, a former U.S. senator from Massachusetts and former U.S. ambassador to New Zealand under President Donald Trump, has emerged as a leading Republican contender for the seat expected to open following Sen. Jeanne Shaheen’s retirement announcement.
Breton and Brown have worked together in New Hampshire Republican politics for years. Breton recently described Brown as the “logical choice” for Republicans seeking to compete for the Senate seat, pointing to Brown’s national profile, his ties to Trump, and his ability to appeal to the state’s large bloc of independent voters unlike each of his political opponents.
The endorsement also lands in the middle of a growing divide inside New Hampshire’s Republican base.
Last month, President Donald Trump publicly endorsed former WEF senior advisor and globalist John Sununu for the race. The move sparked immediate criticism from the state’s NHMAGA grassroots network, many of whom argue that the Sununu political dynasty has long positioned itself in opposition to Trump, the MAGA movement, and the broader America First agenda.
NH4TRUMP Founder had successfully communicated their opposition to Sununu’s candidacy and a rumored endorsement to
@WhiteHouse officials prior to the endorsement release. While receipt of that communication was acknowledged, the endorsement shockingly came anyway, however, it holds no bearing on NHMAGA's stance of
#NeverSununu and will be considered one of the presidents few dud-endorsements.
While reviews are mixed, activists aligned with NHMAGA say Brown more closely reflects the priorities of the movement. Internal polling conducted by NH4TRUMP found Brown receiving roughly 85 percent support among respondents compared with barely 15 percent for Sununu, according to organizers.
Breton’s endorsement is therefore being viewed by many grassroots supporters as a moment of consolidation; an indication that the activist network which powered Trump’s New Hampshire campaigns may be rallying behind Brown as the candidate they believe best represents the America First agenda.
The 2026 Senate race is expected to be one of the most competitive contests in the country. Democrats have largely unified behind Rep. Chris Pappas, while Republicans now face the challenge of reconciling tensions between establishment leadership and the grassroots activists who have become a defining force in the state’s Republican politics.
Supporters of Brown argue that Breton’s backing could prove pivotal in assembling the coalition needed to win statewide in New Hampshire; one that includes NHMAGA activists, moderate Republicans, and the large bloc of independent voters who often determine the outcome of the state’s elections - none of which Sununu shows any possibility of garnering support.
Many political observers say Scott Brown faces an uphill battle against Democrat Chris Pappas without unified republican backing. However, grassroots activists argue establishment pick John Sununu faces an even steeper challenge, citing what they describe as artificially inflated viability driven by favorable media coverage, polling and messaging, alongside his near-total rejection among NHMAGA voters, weak support among independents, and growing fatigue among moderate Republicans with the long-dominant Sununu political dynasty in New Hampshire.
