Iβm gay and Autistic. Trains are awesome! History, Archaeology and Palaeontology fascinate me. I detest the Tories and Brexit. I do love a good swear!
Sulzer Type 4 No. D165 approaching Chinley North Junction on February 18th 1967 with a Manchester (Central) to Nottingham (Midland) stopping service. In just over two weeks time all the stations between Chinley and Matlock would close forever on March 6th 1967. [J. Sutherland].

I was using the loco to provide vacuum so that I could do some braketests ahead of the wagons being used in this year's 30th anniversary gala

Seeing No 4150 at Bridgnorth yesterday got me looking for a view of one of the 1940s built locos in action. No 4176, one of the very last batch, constructed under BR at Swindon in 1949, is seen on a Newton Abbot to Kingswear local at Torquay in 1951.

Been sorting my room recently and found this face screen.
Dated to the 18th century to early 19th century. Face screens were used to protect a ladyβs makeup when sitting near a fire. Now on display in my museum π

βBee-autifulβ gold pendant from Bronze Age Crete π β€οΈ
Minoan jewellery inspired by nature 3,800 years ago!
The βMalia Bee Pendantβ is said to represent a pair of bees placing a drop of honey into a honeycomb.
Heraklion Archaeological Museum
#Archaeology
ALT The image shows a circa 3,800 year-old Minoan gold pendant known as the βMalia Bee Pendantβ. It is said to represent two bees facing each other in the process of depositing a drop of honey in their honeycomb. Their heads and the ends of their bodies are joined. Each insect has a single wing behind the body. In the centre of the pendant, framed by the curving bodies, the bees hold a round, granulated honeycomb between their legs, and a round 'drop' of honey balanced between their mouths. On their heads is a spherical filigree cage enclosing a solid gold sphere. Hanging down are three circular gold discs decorated with beaded border; a disc from each wing and one from where their end of their bodies meet at the sting. The pendant measures 4.6 cm maximum diameter. Excavated from the Minoan Bronze Age cemetery of Chrysolakkos at ancient Malia, Crete. Dated 1800 BC.

CREWE: APT
One of the only times I saw any part of the APT actually moving. An APT power car is in the consist of a test train heading out of Crewe in Summer 1987 (give or take!). Fascinating to compare the profile of a mk1 vs the APT.
