Last November we hosted a roundtable with the Sustainable Nitrogen Alliance about nitrogen pollution, what it was, and what we could do to move towards a more circular system with less waste. Today the @HLEnviroClimate Committee have published their report on the topic 📖👇
📢We've published our report Nitrogen: time to reduce, recycle, reuse Key recommendations: 👉Simplify the regulatory system and toughen enforcement 👉A circular approach to nitrogen management 👉A more strategic approach to nitrogen 📰Read the report here publications.parliament.uk/p…

This timely report confirms what @wwf_uk have long been warning: we can't tackle climate change & #biodiversity loss without holistic nitrogen management. Failure to integrate action across farming, food, nature & climate has had devastating impacts on our health and environment.

Excellent report that sets out clearly the problems and policy solutions. Need a national nitrogen strategy based on a nitrogen balance sheet My thoughts here: linkedin.com/posts/tom-stuar… @HLEnviroClimate @DefraGovUK #pollution #CircularEconomy #Agriculture #water #climate

The Amazon Soy Moratorium has been successful but faces challenges. As Brazil prepares for COP30 with a focus on ending deforestation, businesses, governments, and civil society must step up to protect the Amazon from passing calamitous tipping points. theguardian.com/environment/…

Thanks to the Sustainable Nitrogen Alliance for joining us in Parliament to discuss the issue of nitrogen pollution, which impacts several of the drivers and causes of both climate change and biodiversity loss, from agricultural and water pollution to air quality and GHG levels.

Really useful to have such a detailed and up to date analysis of issues around nitrous oxide
Great to see the Global Nitrous Oxide Assessment launch at #COP29, with contribution from #SustainableNitrogenAlliance's scientific adviser @KevinHicks_SEI. Reducing N2O emissions via sustainable nitrogen management is vital to meet climate commitments & reduce ozone depletion.

Incredible interview with @EllaRobertaFdn by @KayBurley: “Air pollution is linked to everything: cancer, heart disease, dementia, miscarriages […] We need to do something.” “Children breathe toxic air every day. And we wonder why the NHS is broken. I’m so angry.”

Essentially the WWF Espania article is denouncing the greenwashing of the environmentally and socially damaging proliferation of large industrial pig units by saying that biogas from AD plants contributes to renewable energy. [Life cycle analysis missing?]
