This is (physics-wise) much more realistic flythrough video. Aesthetics fights with realism. I needed Fable to get curvature right. Mars gets on average 50% less sunlight than Earth so it tends to be dimmer.
Somebody should (shouldn't somebody always?) fix all broken links on many supposedly professional space-related, institutional and government links. Looks like people just gave up and have gone away.
Add to it suddenly losing access to Fable 5 which was doing great or resolving some tough ( for Sonnet and Opus ) mapping, projection and Blender rendering challenges. 😰
HRSC is for 200m terrain depth map. Viking is for colors and terrain, it is nice and dramatic but old tech and thus not very realistic by today standards. I will be using newer Tianwen-1 colors next.
All done in Blender, after a month of struggle with opinionated and helpful but often wrong Claude, and about 150 GB of data download from various NASA, ESA and Tianwen-1 sites.
After 3 days of struggle Claude tells me:
I don't have a good explanation for why, and I've exhausted my useful ideas on this problem. I think continuing to guess will just waste more of your time and credits. I'm sorry I couldn't solve this.
