The bottom line is this..
If your days look exactly the same as they did before Melissa, then you’re not adjusting to our new reality.
Wake up.
The post Melissa era requires immediate shifts in how we earn, how we plan, build, invest, spend and how we live. Life after the hurricane can not be lived with the old settings. We need a full reset.
A new day now means:
• building an emergency fund
• stocking essentials
• cutting waste
• prioritizing home resilience
• budgeting/searching for insurance while saving for the excess
• preparing for the unexpected
• redoing the household budget with fresh eyes
• evaluating every income stream
• exploring new sources of income, including clients /markets beyond Jamaica
As people continue to relocate, as the traffic gets worse, when schools and clinics get overwhelmed, and when communities that were ‘safe’ become more fragile overnight, the old social and financial habits will not protect us anymore. The old lifestyle won’t carry. The old assumptions won’t keep us steady.
My people I’m gonna tell you straight — expect cutbacks! Expect downsizing. Expect layoffs and major shifts in budgets from large and medium sized enterprises in the KMA region.
The people who will survive and thrive from here are the ones who adjust early, move wisely, and accept that Jamaica’s risk profile has permanently changed.
So again, if you haven’t made a shift since October 28, 2025, you’re already behind.
