Not condoning in any way what #Saintsfc are guilty of but this process has just seen people make up punishments as they go along. What would the punishment have been if we’d lost to Boro? What about if spying had been discovered after Oxford? Nobody knows. No clarity, just chaos
The most shameful day for our football club. The memories of four of the most enjoyable months of recent years destroyed by the press of a recording button. And to what end? A stain on our reputation that has huge implications for now and the future. #Saintsfc
What a great #Saintsfc away end that was today. Not because it was dramatic or there were amazing limbs, but just because everyone was in great spirits and had a moment to celebrate a brilliant run of form with the squad. Amazing effort to get 5,600 fans there for a 12.30ko.
Remarkably there are 5,600 #SaintsFc fans at Deepdale today !!🙌
What an incredible effort when you think it’s a week after Wembley and a week before the play-offs ….and it’s a long long way from home
Respect ✊ 💪😇
Southampton fans were fantastic today. Great sport. Applauding our youngsters winning the cup, applauding the women’s team & cheering the goals of our players kids in their lap of honour. Class act & made the atmosphere brill. Good luck in the playoffs 👏🏻👏🏻. Proper team #pnefc
Can we give some love to that brilliant Peretz save at the death? The mark of a keeper who makes match-defining saves. One of our best additions of recent years. I’m sure Larin has surprised a few of us too! #Saintsfc
Play-offs it is. And that in itself is a great achievement considering we were 15th and 10 points off 6th when this unbeaten run started 18 games ago. Whatever happens from here, I’m grateful to have had some pride put back into the club after a season of humiliation. #Saintsfc
The president of Emirates Airline was keeping it on-brand in the FA Cup semi-final programme, highlighting such standout moments of this year’s competition as Brighton winning at Man Utd (?!), but strangely not mentioning Emirates-backed Arsenal’s defeat by #Saintsfc 😆
Still trying to process emotions from yesterday. Pride & disappointment. 2nd half a hard watch and then bedlam. But perhaps we lost a bit of focus in that moment. And City did what asset-rich teams can do. Great to see the connection between fans and players at the end #Saintsfc
ALT Matchday graphic for Manchester City vs Southampton, it features headshots of the players wearing the 1976 yellow and blue kit. From left to right (Ross Stewart, Kuryu Matsuki, Leo Scienza, Daniel Peretz (in the green and yellow goalkeeper kit), Welington, Shea Charles and Cyle Larin. The text on the graphic reads: Matchday. Manchester City vs Southampton. Sat 25 April. 5.15pm. Wembley Stadium.
A game too far in a congested month. What this team has produced in the past 18 days has been nothing short of remarkable. We weren’t even in the automatics conversation at the start of April. Must make sure we don’t allow this to derail us. But first on to Wembley! #Saintsfc
After spending nearly four hours (with two payment failures) trying to get tickets for the play-off final, I was dreading the members’ semi-final sale today. Pleased to say I was in and out with two tickets in 25 minutes. See you at Wembley #Saintsfc
Jan 4: Booed off at Middlesbrough after a 4-0 defeat. End the day in 15th, 13 points behind Boro in 2nd.
Apr 14: Sixth straight victory in a run of 15 unbeaten league games puts us 4th, ahead of Boro on gd.
Football’s a funny old game Saints, it’s a funny old game. #Saintsfc
SIX in a row for the first time since August 2014 😮💨
ALT Leo Scienza celebrates his goal against Derby by cupping his right ear with his right hand. Added to the images are the six club crests of the teams beaten by Saints in the last six games. They are: Coventry, Norwich, Oxford United, Arsenal, Wrexham, Derby County.
League match 41 in this mad season of fluctuating #Saintsfc fortunes. Twenty of those games have contributed just 15 points, while the other 20 have contributed 51. Or to look at it another way, it was 2 wins in 13, followed by 6 in 7, followed by 0 in 7, followed by 10 in 13! 😆
Back-to-back 😮💨
Tonda Eckert is the @SkyBetChamp Manager of the Month ❤️
