Hey @TopstepHoag: Wanted to say thanks for helping keep us traders level headed. You keep reiterating that we must not try to play “god” while in these markets. I had my best week in my personal account to date, but every session you remind us to remain grounded.

Beware of the overconfidence that can come from early success, including progress mentally/emotionally. You need large samples to prove success or progress. Extrapolating early success/progress into the future is a distraction from the focus you need to make it actually happen.

If you're thinking negatively/pessimistically about what you can't do, you're overconfident. That's right, overconfident. You THINK you know what you can't do, but you can't know that yet. Only after you've given full effort can't you determine you capacity, not before.

If you've been standing on a diving board too long, unable to jump in, sometimes the right answer is for someone to push you in. Risk aversion can create such paralysis that it becomes a very hard cycle to break. You may need to exaggerate the correction before dialing it back.

Intuition can only be developed through years of experience. Knowledge and raw intelligence aren't enough. If you've been trading or playing poker for <1 year, don't trust your intuitive sense of what's right, your emotions are manipulating you. Quick 🧵

What I see w top performing clients. We each have natural strengths/weaknesses, although we need to address weaknesses, ultimately at the highest levels of performance, it comes down to leveraging strengths. Coaching is about being the best version of you #tradingpsychology

A great example is one of my coaching clients who happens to be one of the top energy traders in the world, and had his best year ever in '22, he plans on continuing with regular coaching.
Instead of obsessing about P&L, what would happen if you approached trading as a vehicle for self-growth? That's what I see with many of the top traders I work with. #tradingpsychology #ES_F $SPX $SPY $QQQ #NQ_F $ES_F #QQQ

Great traders are addicts. They're addicted to: - Setting alerts - Placing stop losses - Exercising patience - Sticking to their edge - Journaling their trades - Developing a trade plan - Defining their price targets - Practicing risk management - Knowing when they're wrong
