'Three Chairs with a Section of a 'Picasso Mural.' (1970) What I like about this work by David Hockney is there's no conscious playing with styles or picture-conventions. This is painting straight from life observed and a generous nod to his great influence, Picasso.

"The New Antiquarians features twenty-two young connoisseurs whose spirited interiors exemplify unorthodox approaches to living with history. The book is an exuberant entry point into the world of antiques, highlighting one-of-a-kind collections and the single-minded collectors whose stories suggest compelling new ways of living with the past." ––Elizabeth Goodspeed elizabethgoodspeed.com/newan…

"An inspiring compendium of idiosyncratic interiors assembled around eclectic collections of objects with life and history. The once rarefied world of antiques is bursting open thanks to a new generation of collectors. The New Antiquarians features twenty-two young connoisseurs whose spirited interiors exemplify unorthodox approaches to living with history. Hailing from across the United States and Britain, they brazenly blend the old with the new, embrace anachronism and pastiche, employ serious knowledge with humor and wit, and consider vintage and historical objects through the lens of contemporary values. The New Antiquarians is an exuberant entry point into the world of antiques, highlighting one-of-a-kind collections and the single-minded collectors whose stories suggest compelling new ways of living with the past." waterstones.com/book/the-new…

“One of the more underappreciated pleasures of city life is going to a local gallery on a Saturday afternoon and looking at art. You don’t need a trained eye or a fine arts degree, just an open mind and a willingness to look and explore your perceptions” —George Daicopoulos @GeorgeDaico conta.cc/4dYOCiY

"My client is not in a hurry." One hundred years ago today, on June 10, 1926, Antoni Gaudí died in Barcelona, three days after being struck by a tram on his way to confession. Because of his simple clothes and unkempt appearance, many mistook him for a beggar and delayed helping him. By the time he was identified, it was too late. A century later, the man known as "God's architect" is being remembered not only for his genius, but for the faith that inspired it. Today, Pope Leo XIV will visit the Basilica of the Sagrada Família to bless the newly completed Tower of Jesus Christ, the final and tallest of Gaudí's planned towers. Rising 172.5 meters (566 feet), it makes the Sagrada Família the tallest church in the world. Gaudí devoted the last years of his life almost entirely to the Sagrada Família, convinced that he was not building a monument to himself but offering a work of praise to God. He famously accepted that he would never see it completed, saying, "My client is not in a hurry." One hundred years after his death, the basilica remains a testament to a faith capable of imagining eternity—and to a man whose greatest masterpiece was never really about architecture at all.

We see the tower of Jesus Christ illuminated for the first time! The light show, starting from the base up to the illumination of the cross, culminated with a composition of lights guided by drones that traced the figure of Gaudí and the phrase “first love, then technique”.

'Seven Brussels Sprouts.' (1955) Delicately painted with meticulous detail, Eliot Hodgkin captures the crisp waxy green beauty of a vegetable that in the year this work was painted was very often boiled to a puree.

One of my favourite art supply shops in Paris: Magasin Sennelier. It supplied materials to Picasso and Edgar Degas. A must-see for art lovers.

RACHEL BERMAN (1946-2014) ♥️ 2 October . 02 My painting is my style of living & an authority over its circumstances... Two interwoven strands have sustained the development of my art making. The first has been my relationships with the places in which I have lived. Each city - I am essentially an urban creature - seems to be in my bloodstream. The skies, the streets, the buildings, the people who move past me while I sketch, have become part of my life & in these explorations, this longing for a sense of place in the humanisphere, my work seems to have formed itself into an autoportrait. A second and certainly related theme has been people. By drawing people I get to know them. I always feel less real than my subjects and they will always be a mystery to me, no matter how close I am to them, whether I am working or not. The fabric of the greater portion of my work has been dependent upon them, each one uniquely transforming my sense of place by their presence & each engagement making me more aware of a shared human condition and the significance of human relationships. Both these preoccupations have nourished my experience of seeing. They constitute an affirmation of the power of my sight to illuminate life and reveal to me unknown areas of myself and constantly restore me to a state approaching ‘marvel and wonderment!’ So this is the stage upon which I act, inseparable to my Biography. If I didn’t look upon my life the way I do I wouldn’t know how to keep on Being around. - Rachel Berman ... travelling I Was Flabbergasted By the Headlines, 2010 etching with oil pastel
