Starbase This Week (2026-06-14) | Written by @Space_Mr_Banana Starship Flight 13 is slowly but surely approaching as the vehicles are progressing through their testing campaigns, the Gigabay is on its last level and a future ship may be close to rolling out to Megabay 2. Welcome to this week’s Starbase This Week. Masseys Starting this one right where we left off with the last one…Booster 20. The booster set to fly on Flight 13 has already made the trip back from Masseys to the production site having completed its standard pressure test and two cryogenic proof tests. This is two less than Booster 19 conducted in its cryogenic testing campaign, but as we saw with the Block 2 boosters, two cryo tests is typically the maximum. The next steps for Booster 20 in Megabay 1 involve completing post cryo checkups and installing the grid fins and engines to allow for stacking on the pad and then conducting the static fire respectively. This is likely to be a few weeks' process. The Ship for Flight 13, Ship 40, may be rolling out for Static fire quite soon. Having completed its cryo testing back in early May, Ship 40 has spent its time in Megabay 2 doing largely nothing as far as we could tell. Its likely SpaceX was waiting until after flight 12 to get data for any changes that may be necessary on the vehicle. More recently we saw Ship 40 receiving its three sea level and three vacuum engines. And now a closure has been posted for the rollout of something from the Production Site to Masseys after this SBTW is posted. It's hard to guarantee that the closure is for Ship 40, but it's likely given that Masseys is now empty of anything that is not a test tank. Speaking of test tanks, there was some action with those this week as S39.1 completed a cryo test and the Booster Liquid Oygen (LOX) landing tank test article appears to be finished its testing as it was lifted out of the Nosecone jail at the site having only done two tests. Production Site Over at the production site we got some sneak peak views of a half stacked Booster 21 as its LOX tank left Megabay 1 possibly to make room for B20s arrival, it was later rolled back in. Booster 21 is likely to fly on flight 14 alongside Ship 41, while on the topic of future flights though, earlier in the week Ship 42's nosecone was stacked atop the payload bay. This is usually the final step for a Nosecone before it gets rolled out to Megabay 2 for stacking so its not long now until Ship 42 makes its journey out of the Starfactory. Vehicle production is important, but what's important for vehicle production? Gigabay! The Gigabay at starbase has finally begun the construction of the last level, while still not close to complete or even not close to being as far ahead as Florida's Gigabay, this is a huge step towards mass production of Ships and Boosters. Unfortunately even though the last level has started, Gigabay likely won't be ready for production until some point next year, as even once the whole structure is complete, there is still so much work required on the inside to make it suitable for vehicles. Launch Site Not a lot to say about the launch site but earlier in the week a closure was posted for Port of Brownsville to the pad. During the closure two tanks made their way to the launch site for integration into the tank farm. With that we close out this week and this Starbase This Week. When do you think Flight 13 will fly? And when will Gigabay finally be ready to support vehicle production? It is…so strange to see Starship/Starbase hardware here at the Kennedy Space Center. A booster transport stand and 2 ship transport stands are currently idle by the turn basin, having been unloaded from SpaceX’s transport barge “You’ll Thank Me Later” earlier today. Flight vehicles are gonna be here before we know it! 📸 - @NASASpaceflight nsf.live/spacecoast

Starbase This Week (2026-06-07) | Written by @TheCosmicNebu1a Flight 13 vehicles continue to press ahead in their construction and testing campaigns, and Pad 2 receives some repair work after Flight 12. Welcome to this week’s Starbase This Week. Launch Site Over at Pad 2, work has continued on both the chopsticks and chopstick carriage in the wake of Flight 12. Workers were seen lifting and then installing one of the two newly fabricated chopstick landing rails on Wednesday, with the second being installed the next day on Thursday. It is currently unclear why these replacements are needed, it is possible that this was planned regardless, but it could also have been damage caused by Flight 12. Workers were also seen working on the lower chopstick carriage, both welding and removing some of the rail skates. This is likely damage caused by Flight 12, and could be related to the chopsticks not being lowered into the rest position until 3 days after flight. Time will tell if these repair works will prove resilient enough to last through repeated flights. The chopsticks also performed some movement testing on Tuesday. Marmac 31 Marmac 31 departed Brownsville on Thursday, with a Ship Transport Stand in tow. The hardware necessary to transport flight vehicles has been spotted, but is not yet ready for prime time, so it seems SpaceX are working on transport coordination with the newly ready barge. Production Site Over at the Production site, teams have been very busy with vehicle construction, with teams installing S41’s Right AFT Flap late on Sunday evening. Booster 20 departed Megabay 1 for Massey’s on Thursday to begin its cryogenic test campaign, sporting some temporary writing on the forward dome area, which is likely left over from stacking operations. B21’s LOX landing tank was moved from the Starfactory on Thursday. Late on Saturday night, B21’s AX:2 section was also rolled into Megabay, completing the AFT section of the booster once welded into place. Massey's Starting off the week on Monday, the LOX Landing Tank test article was filled with cryogenic fluids for the first time since the 26th of May. Booster 20 arrived at Massey’s on Thursday and got to work almost immediately, with it completing its Ambient Pressure Test the same night. Booster 20 then got frosty ahead of its first full cryo test on Saturday. This test was longer than we have seen before on average, with the LOX tank being held for quite some time. It then detanked into Friday night. B20’s second cryo test is underway as this article is being posted. And not to be left out of the fun, B18.3 performed its 20th test on the same day as the LOX Landing Tank. When do you think SpaceX will successfully launch Flight 13? June, July, August or later into 2026? Just now: Booster 21's aft/engine section is being moved into Megabay 1 following LOX landing tank installation on the 4th. Next up are the 3 remaining sections that make up the methane tank plus the integrated hot-stage structure. Booster 21 will soon become the 4th fully stacked Version 3 Super Heavy booster. Starbase This Week (2026-05-31) | Written by @Bastiaan_2 Flight 12 didn't only give us the start signal of the Block 3 era, for SpaceX it was also the start signal for inspections ahead of Flight 13. Welcome to Starbase This Week Launch Site Starting this week off at the Launch Site, we saw this week that scaffolding has returned to the OLM. Therefore we can say again "work on the orbital launch mount continues." The booster quick disconnects have done a slow retraction test to see if they still function after the flight, regarding the OLM, nothing major has been done. This indicates that it held up pretty well during flight 12. This is in stark contrast compared to the old OLM at Pad 1, showing that SpaceX has learned a lot about Starship during their block 1 and 2 era regarding pad refurbishment. On the tower side of things, crews were inspecting the ship's quick disconnect arm as well. Giving it a good look over, compared to the two BQDs, the only protection that the SQD has is swinging away during lift off of Starship. But other than inspections, we have not seen any other work being performed on the arm, also indicating that it is in a good state. The chopsticks came down as well this week. And just like the OLM and SQD arm, it too underwent inspection. However, both the left and right landing rails on the sticks have been removed. This could be because SpaceX saw some damage on the landing rails. But something that is more likely is that SpaceX will replace the landing rails and introduce an improved version for future flights. We will have to wait and see when they reïnstall new or repaired landing rails. Mishap Investigation The FAA has officially opened a mishap investigation for flight 12. While Ship 39 did its job with a soft landing in the Indian Ocean. Booster 19 did experience an anomaly during the boostback burn and landing burn. Seeing the FAA opening an investigation was not really a surprise. Either way, SpaceX has to look at the data and make changes to B20 for the upcoming flight. So we don't think that this investigation will hold up flight 13. Speaking of which, when do you think that will fly? Let us know in the comments. Production Site While B20 is still inside Megabay 1, B21 has received its methane transfer tube, only leaving the liquid oxygen landing tank and the AFT section to be rolled out of the Starfactory to complete the LOx tank of B21. After which SpaceX will start stacking the methane tank to combine the two into a fully stacked booster. And on the ship side of things, S41 has been fully stacked and moved over to the middle stand inside of MB2 for further processing. Including installing the AFT flaps which one of them, being the right AFT flap, has already been installed. Marmac 31 Arrival With Marmac 31 having arrived at the port of Brownsville, we can expect to see a booster and or a ship transport stand being moved soon. While no booster or ship is ready to being transported over to the Cape, having both a booster and or ship transport stands ready at the Cape in the meantime will help a lot with the eventual arrival of vehicles. Road delays have already been posted on the Starbase website "Description: Huddleston to Port" for "Date: May 31 11:59 PM to June 1 4:00 AM". So tune in for next weeks SBTW for an update. Massey's Massey's saw a few transports this week as the ship cryo stand has rolled to Massey's to the ship truss structure. With S41 just being fully stacked, we don't expect any ships there for cryo anytime soon. But the ship cryo stand wasn't the only one to roll this week as the booster cryo stand rolled to the Production Site. Hopefully we see B20 rolling for its cryo test campaign ahead of flight 13. And remember COPVs, more of them have been spotted going to Massey's again after a long hiatus. Good to see them being tested at Massey's, although that doesn't mean that they weren't tested at all. Don't need more S36 events. And finishing off the week with B18.3. It was tested again this week. With B19s flight in the past, SpaceX can test changes being made to the boosters forward section with this test tank. So we can expect more testing of B18.3 as SpaceX learns more from flight 12. With that out of the way, when do you think B20 will roll out for cryo? Let us know in the comments and we will see you next week for another Starship this Week.
