There was a fatal crash on Corstorphine Road at the junction with Balgreen Road 30 March, 2024, which would be just beyond the Corstorphine boundary. The problem is everywhere.

A new Low Traffic Vision would help create safe, attractive streets where people can breathe clean air and discover the many benefits of walking and wheeling šŸ’š.
🚨Our members are urging the government to set out new Low Traffic Vision in 2025! Let's develop an Integrated National Transport Strategy which provides real choices in how people make day-to-day journeys šŸ˜Ž lowtrafficfuture.org.uk/2025…

Road Policing officers in Edinburgh are appealing for information about a video circulating on social media showing a Honda Civic speeding at 82pm in the Saughton Road North area, overtaking numerous vehicles in the face of oncoming traffic. Read more: orlo.uk/Skomj

Last RT: Drumbrae roundabout and its surrounds desperately need a full safety redesign. It’s appalling for everyone: pedestrians, cyclists, drivers. Full signal control and speed reducing measures needed.

These are not CGI or AI images. Paris is moving fast to make nicer, greener and healthier places; showing cities around the world that it’s possible with political will. If you can do it in Paris, you can do it anywhere.

Amazing. The people who oppose the Corstorphine LTN and got the Manse Road bus gate removed are now objecting to a new care home on Manse Road because there is too much traffic in the area.
Replying to @PidginPosting
With reference to the proposed care home at the gap site on SJR at Manse Road:

Shocked to discover that ACE are misleading people again. ā€œNo-one was suggesting reversing the widened pavementsā€ - except that’s exactly what ACE demanded in a deputation to the council. They just can’t stop. edinburghnews.scotsman.com/n…

Even people who love their cars, or really need their cars, or both, can still probably admit that the worst thing about the city they live in is that there are too many cars.

So now traffic on Manse Road will return to the 3000 vehicles per day it previously saw, is Accessible Corstorphine For All’s position still that pedestrians shouldn’t use it and instead take a half-mile detour?
This is absolutely extraordinary from a group calling itself Accesible Corstorphine For All. Rather than improving pavements, he suggests people not driving take a half-mile detour. Kids, parents, people using wheelchairs - all expected to detour for the sake of drivers.

Just to reinforce this point: as I write this (11.45 am on a Friday) traffic is backed up on St John’s Road to the zoo. Nothing to do with any of the LTN changes. It will only get worse when the post office relocates. Nothing will be done.

While we're disappointed at @Edinburgh_CC's decision to remove the Manse Road bus gate, bringing 4000 vehicles a day back to a narrow residential street beside a primary school, we're happy to see the vast majority of the LTN elements retained. tinyurl.com/an3ycb6f

This will only mean more traffic cutting through the area on the way to somewhere else along on a key walking route (inc to school) where the pavement is a little more than two feet wide.
#CorstorphineConnections Transport Cttee spent many hours over several years debating, monitoring, evolving this scheme But final decision is by different set of Cllrs, the TRO Sub Cttee, who see this for the first time, discuss for ~45 mins, then decide šŸ¤”Something wrong

Government of our city needs to make tough decisions not pander to a few local NIMBYs. The bus gate was controversial because it was an effective traffic dispersal measure. Logically we should instal more bus gates. Also prosecute the person cutting down the camera.

Two important points conveniently overlooked by anti-LTN campaigners. Ā  Ā 1. main road traffic belongs on main roads (Not cutting through residential streets) Ā  2. more cars lead to more traffic (cars on UK's roads doubling to 41 million in 30 years)
