The Yankees, lose, 3-1 to the Boston Red Sox. The No. 4 seed in the American League remains winless since the advent of the three-team wild card format in 2022. They are 0-7. No team has ever lost Game 1 and come back to win the series in this best-of-three wild-card format.

One thing that kinda sucks about how this whole series has gone down is that it’s given the angry, mostly unintelligent fans stuck in the 90s a reason to come out yelling again. It’s been a really fun season. It absolutely sucks how it’s ending. The Yankees accomplished more in the postseason than they have in a long time. They’ll almost definitely fall one step short of where we all wanted. But that’s not a reason to start calling for jobs and acting like morons. Just isn’t.

The pitching has done the job for the most part this series. Aside from the whole Nestor/Hill situation, they’ve kept this crazy good Dodgers offense at bay and performed well enough for this to be a competitive series. The lineup has completely failed us.

If you want to lose your mind about a reliever, Leiter has been nothing short of a disaster since he’s come over. Clay got unlucky and he keeps getting unlucky and at some point you can’t blame luck. I get that. But he struck out the side. A ball snuck through. You gotta look at how it’s happening before you throw him under the bus. Leiter is getting shelled every time out. Not remotely the same guy he was before he came over. It’s costing the team way more than anything Holmes is doing. Frustrating loss either way.

Trent Grisham is an elite center fielder, but we let content creators and podcast bros pretending to be no-nonsense tough guys start a narrative that he’s terrible because of one bad moment in a lost game. Give me this as a 4th OF 10 times out of 10.

I don't understand why Aaron Judge can't be upset he got hit in the hands. Never vowed to get retaliation, and never wished ill will on Suarez, you're allowed to be upset when you almost got your wrist fractured in a World Series window.

After his 5th inning groundout, DJ LeMahieu is now hitting .192 (14-73) with RISP this season.
