Indigenous people, in particular, are the most undercounted ethnic group in the census’ history. Indigenous people were excluded from the first 70 years under the U.S. Constitution, which explicitly regarded them as not countable rewire.news/article/2019/12/…

The Census results directly affect issues of democracy – redrawing district lines & distributing representative seats – & determine funding of social services for each state, including Medicaid, Section 8 housing vouchers, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The Census doesn’t explicitly ask about gender identity/sexual orientation, but LGBTQ people exist within all the populations that are undercounted/underserved. We must be counted in the 2020 Census to ensure our communities have access to democracy & social service funding.

Dissenting trans women like Passion Star, Sandy Brown, and LeslieAnn Manning have fought against brutalities like sexual assault and long periods of solitary confinement, and their cases have forced prisons to take the safety and care of all LGBTQ prisoners more seriously.

Trans, non-binary, and two-spirit individuals deserve access to mental health care where they feel safe, affirmed, and supported. Too often it can feel challenging for folks to find mental health professionals that meet these basic requirements.

Protesters including including @TransLatina_C interrupted the #PowerOfOurPride LGBTQ town hall. TLC’s Mariah Moore got this video of them being forced out. Shortly after this, the protesters were detained by the police.

Did you know that Medicaid Expansion covers gender affirming care? Fed comment period is open on changes to MT's program. Changes seek to add work requirements and increase premiums. These changes are a bad deal for MT. Make your voice heard!
