CTGs don't work! No evidence of benefit regardless of risk staus. Evidence of harms, particularly when used with central monitoring @birthsmalltalk

hang on a second...if you are going to tell women that 30mins distance would 'be safest' then at least provide the evidence underpinning that recommendation..... Suggest effort could also go into exploring....1/n

We continue to go against all international evidence for mw led services in Ireland. Women, if you wish to have a homebirth take advice on your human rights in childbirth. #HSE: Why can't we develop the service rather than reducing women's rights in childbirth!! #homebirth

Thanks for sharing the article Hannah. I'm deeply concerned by the recommendation to widen the use of central monitoring without evidence of whether it works, or not. I think central monitoring makes things worse and as you know have published on this.

Lack of big randomised trials should no longer be viewed as a barrier to waterbirth @JyaiAllen @hannahdahlen @KildeaSue Instead, research should focus on how to improve waterbirth practice.  transformingmaternity.org.au…

This is where system design ideas help. Make it so that handover always includes both professions and insist that the plan is made in #Collaboration #midwiferychat

Let's transform maternity care
Imagine if the private obstetrician only took referrals from a midwife.... When you know who will be there longest at the birth, it makes more sense for midwives to be primary carer and obstetricians to consult. #MidwiferyChat
