My little brother is a huge @BoilerBall fan (and current Purdue PhD student) and a shoe design enthusiast. He entered a contest to win the chance to design a new basketball shoe for Nike and would appreciate your vote (Fan 4). Thanks!

New research from my lab: using enzymes to convert tiny molecular assemblies into artificial cell membranes. Fun collaboration with my friend @TreeSoftMatter led by grad student Nick Bair. #realtimechemtinyurl.com/5n6ud9ek
I'm excited to share that we recently got an NSF CAREER grant to study the fundamentals of polymer crystallization: engineering.byu.edu/news/eng…. I'm thrilled for the opportunity and super grateful to @PolymerPolymath for his work that formed the basis of the grant. Thank you @NSF!
Especially for other new PIs, I want to acknowledge the many failures that preceded this success. This is perhaps embarrassing, but we had 11 rejections by NSF before this one was awarded! This quote by Tony Finau inspired me: "a winner is just a loser that kept on trying."
One of my former students, a @BYUChemE PhD grad, was laid off yesterday (not his fault). He is super smart, a hard worker, and good communicator. His latest work was in technical #SoftwareDevelopment. If you have a lead on an open job/postdoc, please send my way.
Reminder: The deadline for abstracts for the AICHE Annual meeting is today (04/08/24) by 11:59 PM EST! Jay Park and I are co-chairing the session on polymer crystallization for @aiche_mesd 08A. If you have any issues with abstract submission, we would be more than happy to help.
Excited to share a new article with Jan Garcia and other UCSB folks on some mysteries of coarsening behavior we found. Jan found was that "dynamic asymmetry" in phase separation of polymers is intimately connected to the polymer composition. Check it out! doi.org/10.1063/5.0173992
Join us tomorrow (Monday) for the Area 8A Polymers Plenary sessions! We have 2 sessions running from 8-10:30 AM and 12:30-3 PM in Celebration 5, featuring the fabulous speakers below! @ChEnected@aiche_mesd (1/3)
