Thanksgiving Energy Tip #5 Get Outside! Turn off the TV and gather the family for football or a hike. Not only does this bring the family together, it also means less time spent using electricity to power household devices.
Thanksgiving Energy Tip #4 Chill Out! If you expect a large group of people for dinner, lower the thermostat a degree or two before the guests arrive. Otherwise, since people generate heat, the space may become wastefully overheated.

Thanksgiving Energy Tip #3 Let your Thanksgiving leftovers cool before putting them in the refrigerator. Hot foods and liquids make the refrigerator work harder and use more energy. Also, if you have too many leftovers, consider donating them to a shelter.

Thanksgiving Energy Tip #2 Reduce waste. Rather than using plastic wrap or tinfoil to store those leftovers, reach for some reusable food containers or beeswax/cloth wraps. Opt for tap water instead of bottled water, which contributes to huge amounts of plastic waste every year.
