Katy and Dan have always been supportive, from taking the Wakonda Jr. inter-club team down to Kansas City when I was younger and letting me stay with their family during the Wichita Korn Ferry tour event.
Thank you for the kind words! I can’t wait to see 35x70 grow.
Major celebrating is happening in our house tonight.
(Ok…as wild as it gets with two kids under 5 with work and activities tomorrow)
When Dan worked at Wakonda Club in DSM, they had a good group of advanced junior golfers. Couple guys played D1 and a bunch of solid high school players. There’s always that one guy who’s a strong player and quietly under-recruited and his name was Tripp Kinney.
Everyone else had gone home? Tripp was walking 9 more. Everyone is talking about what coaches they’re talking to? Tripp and his dad were asking what questions to ask and what to look for. It was a blast watching him grow and improve for 2 seasons.
He had a really good college career on solid teams at Iowa State, turned pro, and has had off and on KFT status for the last couple years and is grinding away. We were excited to send him some gear this spring. Watching former junior golfers grow up - playing professionally or going pro outside of golf - is the best.
I caught an IG alert out of the corner of my eye on the way home today. Started hollering at the kids in the backseat and calling Dan. “Guys, remember Mr. Tripp? He won a tournament!”
Lots of high fives and all caps texts to go around. As far as we know, it’s the first competitive win for 35x70 gear. The Teeing Off polo looks awesome with that crystal, but more than anything we are PUMPED to see Tripper get a dub!
