Four views of Portage, lake and glacier. These are from 1954, 1957, 1960, and 1984. Given melt and retreat, it is difficult to see an image of a glacier and not think or even say the inevitable: "it used to be bigger." #alaskahistory #alaska

Common Anchorage history Q: What are those excavations in the flats off Bayshore in south Anchorage? A: They are relics of a series of ponds and berms built in 1973 as a waterfowl habitat, meant to enhance area and mitigate negative sewage impact. #alaskahistory #alaska

Iver Otter yoga. I don't know the name of the position but it must be a good one, the otter was very flexible. Anchorage #Alaska

Spring, and the hunting is easy for the local rover otters. The returning waterfowl like to rest on the edge of the ice so the otter just pops up and grabs one. This one was a bit ambitious and snagged a Canada Goose. Anchorage #Alaska
