๐ฑ Over the past few days, we've been teaming up with the incredible folks from the LIFE on Machair project to collect Marram (Ammophila arenaria) seeds. These seeds will play a crucial role in the mission to protect and restore the eroded sand dunes of Galway in 2024. ๐โจ
Looking forward to delivering a talk at:

Debbie will be talking a bit about the work of True Harvest Seeds and what we are intending to achieve. I'll outline how we do our collections and our seed saving methods!
Hope to see you there :)
Thanks to the Irish MEPs who worked together this morning to pass measures which will help #RestoreNature across Europe. โ ๐
By working collaboratively here in Ireland we can make this opportunity works for nature, for farmers and for the future of our country & society. ๐ค

Everyone welcome Clare! ๐๐She took position as Retail Ecommerce Coordinator and has been sprucing up our online shop - #medicinalherb seeds incoming!

Will my native wildflowers grow again next year?
Of course the answer is yes...and no! There are many factors that effect whether or not your flowers will bloom again.
#TrueHarvestSeeds#WildflowerGarden#NativeWildflowers
1. The Wildflower
Annual wildflower species germinate, bloom, set seed and die in one year. Biennial wildflowers have a life cycle of two years, they germinate and grow one year, then bloom, set seed and die the following. Species which last longer than two years are perennial
For annuals, you can let the seed drop in late summer. At some point between then and early spring, clear away the old growth brash. Annuals tend to like disturbed/weeded ground. Sometimes you see babies in late autumn and some in spring, leave them and they'll come on.
Everybody say hi to Sebastian our new Horticultural Assistant!! He has been busy conducting germination tests on our #organic#vegetableseeds. Germination testing is a crucial process for evaluating the viability of our seeds.๐ช๐ฑ

We hope you enjoyed #WildflowerWeek and we wish you all the success for your wildflowers in 2024 ๐๐

4. Seed Type
If you opt for open pollinated seeds subsequent parent plants should produce viable seeds. It does depend on who they pollinate with. ๐If you have another variety of a species that may be close enough to hybridise, you may get oddities in your next generation.
