How does this stop piracy exactly? Also, I haven't turned on my PS4 in well over a year, why should I lose access to games I paid for just because I didn't meet the company mandated user retention?

This is how it starts. First it's a "one-time" check. Then it's multiple times. It's only a matter of time after the fact you need the internet connection to play digital games at all. All the while they push systems that don't have disc drives.

For the corpo defenders out there still denying issues around the Sony DRM: The CBOMB is back for the DRM-affected titles. We tested it, @HikikomoriMedia tested it, @SpawnWaveMedia tested it. If we're lucky, it's only for the 14 days. But it exists. Take your ignorance elsewhere!

So much garbage in this industry was given a pass and now are mainstream because people like you continue to write it off as “nothing” These corporations will continue to do this because you people keep apologizing for it. Stop it. Have some self respect for once in your life..

If I already paid for and downloaded it why do I need a license check?

While all the Sony and Playstation Fanboys are trying to run damage control and attacking critics to protect their precious Playstation reputation. A Lurker reminded me of a cheeky little incident that happened last year...where PS5's servers were scuffed for the weekend and PS5 owners were locked out of their digitally-purchased games, because "Playstation could not verify their licences". Well now, the Playstation fanboys quite conveniently memoryholed this incident didn't they? This incident is VERY topical right now with the PS DRM issue isn't it?
