Dragon is on track to reenter Earth’s atmosphere and splash down off the southern coast of California near Oceanside at ~5:10 a.m. PT on Wednesday, June 17
Today, legacy structures at historic SLC-6 were safely cleared to make way for a new era of spaceflight. With an outgrant issued by the U.S. Space Force in 2025, SpaceX is now modernizing the pad to support next generation spacelift operations.
From what I’ve seen, as of today the iconic support structures at SLC-6 are no more.
I’m excited to see what SpaceX builds in their stead (thank goodness for views from the surfliner) but still, it’s a bit sad to see the landscape change forever.

One week ago, we found out who will be launching on the Artemis III mission next year. What do you think of the selections?

Engineers attached Northrop Grumman’s Pegasus XL rocket to the company’s Stargazer aircraft at @NASAWallops. Inside is LINK, Katalyst Space’s robotic servicing spacecraft, which will rendezvous with our Swift telescope to attempt an orbital boost. go.nasa.gov/3SaFNvh
ALT A large white airplane has a white rocket attached to its belly. A truck with a flight of stairs is pulled up to the forward boarding door, which is open. There is a band of blue running from the nose to the tail, just above the wings, and blue letters spell out “Northrop Grumman” to the left of the boarding door. A white tractor is hitched to the front of the airplane. The sky above is streaked lightly with white clouds. A person in a black shirt and pants stands under the wing. We are standing down from today’s launch attempt. We are still detecting off nominal behavior in the vehicle's fluid systems, the teams are analyzing the new data to isolate the root cause.
My role in Operation: “FIWB” has concluded, but the memories will stick around.
Thanks @DavidJDPhotos for letting me tag along & showing me parts of this beautiful nation that I’d only seen in photos/articles. What an adventure!
‘Til next time.
