A tribute to a true hero 🇬🇧❤️ Rushabh Patel, 28, has died after saving two friends from drowning in Milton Keynes. Originally from Gujarat, Rushabh had moved to the UK to build a better life for his family, his wife Mili and their 18-month-old daughter. On 26 May, he was enjoying a picnic with his family at an open-water spot in Newport Pagnell when two friends got into difficulty in the water. Without hesitation, Rushabh jumped in. He saved both of them, but suffered a cardiac arrest and drowned. He was airlifted to hospital, where he passed away two days later. In death, his selflessness continued. Through organ donation, Rushabh gave five to six people a new chance at life. His sister has set up a fundraiser to support his wife and young daughter, which you can find linked in our bio. As she walked home with her mobility walker, she was approached by someone asking for directions to the gurdwara and handed some papers. A man who kidnapped, tortured and raped a woman at a house in Hanwell has been jailed for 34 years. Gagandeep, 34, of Wandsworth, was sentenced today at Isleworth Crown Court, comprising 28 years in custody and a 6 year extended licence. He will serve at least 18 years before parole can be considered, and will then be deported with no right of re-entry. The court heard his victim, a 24-year-old woman, had refused to bring a suitcase of unknown items into the UK from Thailand. When she arrived at Birmingham Airport in June 2024, she was forced into a car by masked men, driven to a house in Hanwell, and subjected to more than a day of torture. He raped her twice. Her mum refused to give up. She kept her daughter’s clothes as evidence, which produced a one in a million DNA match, and supported her until she felt able to give a full account. He was found guilty of two counts of rape, kidnap, false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The survivor said: “We are not the ones who should carry shame. The man who died in Wednesday’s stabbing on North Road in Southall has been named locally as Gurbhej Singh, 26. Family and media in Punjab say Gurbhej was from Mehndipur, a village near Khemkaran in Tarn Taran district, and was the only brother of three sisters. He moved to England around four years ago and worked here alongside other young men from his village. His family in Punjab were given the devastating news on Thursday night. His village is in mourning, and relatives are appealing to the Indian authorities for help to bring his body home so his family can lay him to rest. Do you recognise this man? Police have released an e-fit after an attempted rape in Walpole Park, Ealing. At around 6:30pm on Tuesday 13 January, a woman in her 20s was approached by a man in the park. He pushed her to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her, but she was able to fight him off. She reported the attack the same day and continues to be supported by specialist officers. Police describe the suspect as skinny to average build with thick dark-brown hair, and say he appeared to be of Middle Eastern heritage. At the time he was wearing a black puffer jacket, grey trousers and black shoes with white soles. The victim scratched his face as she escaped, which may have left a noticeable mark or scar. A huge fire ripped through a warehouse in Brent overnight 🔥 The blaze broke out on Oxgate Lane late last night, engulfing the two-storey warehouse, with flames and smoke visible for miles. At its height, around 150 firefighters and 25 fire engines were battling the fire, with four turntable ladders deployed. More than 70 residents were evacuated as a precaution, and Edgware Road was closed between Dollis Hill and Staples Corner.
