The Uyo Book and Arts Festival was graced by some of the finest intelligentsia in the state capital, including Professor Joseph Ushie, one of Nigeria’s literary giants.
As the keynote speaker, he disassembled the theme, delineated the parts, and reassembled it in a way that was

that minorities, even in Nigeria, are supposed to be marked by number, not status.
UBAF 2025 reminded us that our languages, cultures, and identities are treasures to be celebrated, not hierarchised, because being a minority in number does not mean you are any less magnificent.
