UBCIC Supports Calls to Uphold the Title and Rights of all Impacted First Nations Before Advancing Treaty Legislation
On Earth Day, UBCIC calls for unwavering attention to the climate emergency, which disproportionately impacts Indigenous peoples. We must shift to clean energy and away from extraction of fossil fuels, including LNG, which threaten our precious lands and waters.
The Declaration Act debate made one thing clear: when industry lobbies govt, it's democracy. When First Nations negotiate with the Province, it's "hostage-taking."
They agreed to collaborate. Apparently that's a threat to democracy.
