Thanks University Polytechnic València and Timac AGRO for the invitation to speak at the #AGRODAY24. I found the conference very informative, for example the impact of water management on soil microbiome and cutting edge precision irrigation.

Monitoring tree stem water potential requires someone to be in the orchard from 1-3 PM. @UCDIrrigation has been looking into the accuracy of commercially available sensors that will collect the data passively, listen to find out what he says about them: growingthevalleypodcast.com/…

Congratulations Charlie
We're excited to announce another one of our 2024 G.A. Harris Fellowship recipients, Charlie Chen, grad student in hydrologic science at UC Davis. Proposal Title: Investigating the influence of cover cropping on soil water budget in young pistachio orchards What makes you most excited about your upcoming research project? "I'm most excited about this upcoming research project because it has the potential to improve the accuracy of soil moisture data collection with the neutron probe. Accurate soil moisture data is essential for adopting sustainable water management practices. A known challenge with the neutron probe is its tendency to give inaccurate readings near the soil surface. That's where the TEROS 54 comes in—it will play a critical role in verifying the accuracy of the neutron probe's data. I'm eager to collect and compare the data for the upcoming growing season."
