Turning purpose into miles. 🚴
Today, the UCHealth Transplant team sent Mark Scotch off as he begins a 1,900 mile bike ride, following the path of his own organ donations.
Mark is a double living donor who gave part of his liver to a 9-month-old baby who had only months to live. That child, now a healthy toddler, was there today. This is a powerful reminder of the life-changing impact of organ donation.
His story shows what one person can do: save a life and change the trajectory of an entire family for generations to come.
Mark will ride 60–70 miles a day, aiming to finish his ride Memorial Day weekend. His goal is to keep the conversation going and encourage others to register as organ donors, whether as living donors or through their driver’s license.
You can follow his journey here: theorgantrail.org/

Snow last week, 80s this week, and more moisture ahead? Colorado's weather is unpredictable, but sun protection shouldn't be.🌞
Sunscreen helps prevent skin cancer and premature aging.
At higher elevations, UV exposure is stronger and your risk for skin cancer rises.
The good news: prevention is simple.
✔️ Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30
✔️ Apply 15 min before going outside
✔️ Reapply every 2 hours
✔️ Don’t forget ears, neck, hands & feet

A world-first breakthrough is opening new possibilities for people living with paralysis.
Doctors and researchers at UCHealth and CU Anschutz implanted a brain-computer interface in areas of Brandon Patterson's brain to record and interpret brain signals.
The goal: learn how a person's thoughts can connect to movement. For Brandon, it means new potential to regain function years after a car accident left him paralyzed.
This innovation could also help people with ALS, stroke, and other conditions in the future.
