From February to April this year, David Maraga and the UGM Party Young Aspirants League travelled across 43 counties through the #UkatibaCaravan, listening to the voices, struggles, aspirations and ideas of wananchi across the country. On Tuesday, 16 June 2026, CJ Emeritus and UGM Presidential Flagbearer @dkmaraga will deliver his State of the Nation Address, sharing what Kenyans told him and proposing the way forward. Interesting times for our Forests and National Parks! It is either they are cleared to pave way for a state lodge, a high-end restaurant, a car park, or a tree nursery. We rolled out an ambitious 15B tree growing project as Country 4 years ago. Maybe we surpassed the target and grown 20B? @UGMParty @GreenBeltMovmnt @kattoloo @paulakahumbu
The government on Thursday defied public outcry and a court order to kick off clearing of a section of Imenti Forest in Meru County to pave the way for an airstrip project. Mature trees felled under tight security from Kenya Forest Service rangers. Read more: zurl.co/fJEmm

Three protesters shot dead in Nanyuki. Students shot inside their own hostel at Multimedia University. Hooded, unidentifiable officers firing live rounds on unarmed Kenyans. This is not law enforcement. This is the constitution being violated in broad daylight. As we approach the 2nd anniversary of June 25, we must refuse to normalise what we are witnessing. Accountability is not optional. It is what justice looks like in practice. Here is my statement on the current pattern of violence by the Police:

State-hired goons have stormed a meeting where the KHRC and other CSOs were discussing the 2026-2027 budget that was presented yesterday. One of the assailants was arrested and said he was sent by a government official. Some valuables, including a phone, were stolen during the incident. The civil society held this meeting at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi to assess how well the budget addressed citizen concerns. We condemn this act of intimidation and assert that it will not deter us from scrutinizing the budget. We will continue to demand that it put the interests of the people at front and center.

The uncalled for arrest and illegal detention of @UGMParty members and other Greens, at Langata Police station, who were demonstrating last Monday against the excision of the Nairobi national Park to turn it into a parking lot, exposed us to very disturbing issues in this police station, which might be a replica in many more of the Police stations across the country. 1. The station has NO electricity for MANY months now. KPLC disconnected power for debts owed. 2. The station has no RUNNING water. They rely on water delivered in containers, one wonders where from. 3. The station is detaining 10 Ethiopians and 8 Eritreans, including minors, who have been in the cell for months, awaiting deportation for whatever crimes! 4. The station has a Nigerian national in the cells who is being given privileged treatment, he has a corner section with a MATTRESS! One wonders what crime is being detained for and why the preferential treatment. 5. The officer incharge of the station could not put a hand on which police officer arrested our members, hence the free bond as they INVESTIGATE! In a country where there is supposed to be @NPSOfficial_KE @IPOA_KE no harmony in internal security operations. 6. To the detained nationals, what are their embassies here @NGEmbassy @Eritrea_UN doing? What sort of violations are these @UNHumanRights @HakiKNCHR @achpr_cadhp
These same police officers who shot Students at MMU are the ones who bundles us together with CJ in the lorry on Monday. Looking at the photo, there are two officers in the background, one with a white T-Shirt holding a guy and the other with a helmet. The same officers are seen here shooting these Students. Is there a way we can get their identities?

Former Chief Justice and UGM Party Presidential aspirant David Maraga has pledged to implement the Constitutional two-thirds gender principle if elected in 2027. Speaking on The Uninterrupted Podcast, @dkmaraga said his administration would work with Parliament to enact the legislation required to give full effect to the provision and ensure future electoral cycles comply with the law. He also committed to enforce the gender principle across all government appointments, maintaining that constitutional compliance must begin with the presidency. These measures, he said would form part of a broader constitutional reset aimed at restoring the rule of law and ending impunity. Watch the full interview: youtu.be/IfmJK-5TdO0?si=qvbH…

We were arrested by plainclothes police officers and taken to Lang’ata Police Station. The officers later informed us that CJ Maraga, being a senior citizen, was free to leave. But he refused. Instead of securing his own freedom, he chose to stand in solidarity with those he had been arrested alongside. He made it clear that he would only leave once everyone else was released. If that did not happen, he was prepared to spend the night in the cells with us. That moment spoke volumes about his character. True leadership is not about privilege or personal comfort—it is about standing with your people, especially in difficult times. A great leader in my books.

The impeachment of @rigathi, given that the court found that he had not been given a fair hearing, should have been annulled. Art 25 (c) of the CoK guarantees every Kenyan the right to a fair hearing. This right shall not be limited. -@dkmaraga

Ask me about a truthful, trustworthy and honorable leader, I will show you @dkmaraga. Even when he was released after our arrest, he embodied integrity and demonstrated exemplary leadership by staying at the police station until everyone was safely released. Who does that?

The Constitution of Kenya guarantees every Kenyan the right to peacefully assemble, demonstrate and picket. The arrest of our Presidential Flagbearer & Former Chief Justice David Maraga and 9 others during a peaceful march to defend Nairobi National Park raises serious questions about constitutional freedoms and the state of our democracy. Join @dkmaraga on @SpiceFMKE tomorrow morning as he unpacks these issues and more.

David Maraga @dkmaraga yesterday did something very commendable. Something I know most of the crooks we call leaders wouldn't do. He was released from Langata police station but he REFUSED to leave until the rest of @UGMParty members with him were set free. That's LEADERSHIP.

This is the reason as to why they arrested us. William Ruto and his cronies have grabbed the land meant for Nairobi National Park.
