A special movement on the airfield today as the distinctive howl of her Rolls Royce Olympus engines powered the #Vulcan along the runway for a quick leg-stretch. The @XL426 is beautifully maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers who regularly host open days here at Southend!
My mate James (of "curry flight to France" fame) tells me from Wed 1/7/20 the favourite UK southerner destination (Le Touquet) will be no ATC AND be French circuit calls ONLY daily 1130Z-1330Z. Speak French in that (utc) time AND self-close flight plan or could face big SAR bill
We'll be entering the next phase of reopening next week; self serve drinks and snacks will be available from Friday 3rd July and the next day the flying school @OldBuckAeroClub reopens.
