This Carers Week, we’re recognising the millions of unpaid carers supporting loved ones across the UK. Unpaid carers play a vital role in our wider care system, often helping with daily routines, appointments, advocacy, emotional support and the small details that help care feel consistent and personal. This year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, is a reminder that unpaid carers deserve to be recognised, understood and supported - not just this week, but every week. We stand with unpaid carers. 💙 #CarersWeek #UnpaidCarers #AdultSocialCare #SocialCare #CareProviders #HealthAndSocialCare

Falls can change everything for someone living with dementia. Confidence. Independence. Routine. Even the feeling of safety in familiar surroundings. For care teams, falls can also become moments where quick decisions matter most, especially when a resident is distressed, confused or unable to explain how they feel. That pressure is real. Geraldine McMurdie explores why fast access to trusted guidance is becoming increasingly important in dementia care, and how Lyra is helping care teams quickly find relevant policies and support during high-pressure situations. Instead of searching through folders or multiple documents, staff can ask questions in their own words and access trusted QCS guidance within seconds. Because in moments that feel stressful or uncertain, care teams should not be left searching for answers. What can providers expect from next week's CQC Board meeting? Over the past year, many providers have been asking the same questions: Will inspection activity continue to increase? Are registration delays improving? And what happens next with the Single Assessment Framework? While next week's meeting is unlikely to bring major policy changes, it should provide a clearer picture of how the regulator plans to continue its recovery programme. Key areas to watch include: • Inspection and registration activity • The rollout of Returning to Good and Outstanding inspections into adult social care • Progress on digital and provider portal improvements • Workforce growth within CQC inspection teams For providers, understanding where the regulator's focus is heading can help inform preparation, planning and inspection readiness. We've broken down what to expect from the meeting and the key developments to watch. Read more: buff.ly/NnqUzzT #AdultSocialCare #CQC #SocialCare #CareProviders #RegisteredManagers

🚨 CQC has announced its latest inspection priorities, signalling increased inspection activity across health and social care. Here's what providers need to know: 🔎 CQC plans to prioritise: • Higher-risk services, using intelligence to guide decisions • Providers that haven't been inspected for some time, or ever • Services with older ratings • Increasing overall inspection activity ⚡ There's also a change coming for lower-risk services. The Returning to Good and Outstanding model, currently used in GP practices, is set to expand into adult social care. Providers can expect shorter, more focused inspections and faster reporting, although further detail is still awaited on the Quality Statements that will be assessed. The message is clear: inspections are becoming more targeted, more frequent and more intelligence-led. Now is a good time for providers to review their inspection readiness, evidence and quality assurance processes. #AdultSocialCare #CQC #SocialCare #CareProviders #RegisteredManagers
