ALT Yesterday, testing was carried out at the Port of Cartagena using the buoy prototype developed the SIMMBAD project (Smart Marine Monitoring System via Advanced Buoy), an initiative funded by the Regional Development Institute of the Region of Murcia.
SIMMBAD aims to deploy and test, in a real marine (port) environment, a smart buoy integrating a range of sensors for the real-time monitoring and control of acoustic emissions and chemical pollutants in the marine environment. The project contributes to the protection of marine biodiversity and to compliance with the European Marine Strategy Framework Directive.
In the words of Javier Mármol, President of SAES: “SIMMBAD is a clear example of how technological innovation can be harnessed to support sustainability and the protection of the marine environment. This project reinforces our commitment to developing advanced solutions that deliver real value to strategic infrastructures such as ports.
