The Scholars to Storytellers workshop at the DCHA was a great success! It was wonderful to host faculty across many disciplines and departments to learn about how to move from academic research projects to commercial publishing.

Today we wrapped up the AY25-26 Chandler Seminars with Elizabeth Tarulis’s analysis of North American tobacco pipes in 17th-Century New England. The Chandler Seminars have been made possible by the generous donations of DCHA friends Atty. John Chandler and Elizabeth Chandler.

Congratulations, Elizabeth! We have so enjoyed your time as a Graduate Fellow in the DCHA.
Congrats to Elizabeth Tarulis on the 2026 VOLunteer Distinction Award! Her research examines how English colonists in 17C New England adopted tobacco smoking and began producing pipes. She’s off to Jamestown Rediscovery this June as a Site Supervisor.

Faculty Fellow Caitlin Dahl received a DCHA Manuscript Review Award to workshop her book and invited professors Jeffrey Peters and Jennifer Row to serve as outside reviewers. Professor Peters led a seminar for faculty and graduate students during his DCHA visit.
