So proud of @UTSWIMchief resident (& current GI applicant), #KrystalLai presenting our work on ESD defect management & its impact on delayed bleeding at #ACG2025. Incredibly high & gracious praise from @nshaheenUNC about how well she presented our project! And when asked which of our two ESD endoscopists was better, she deftly answered “I decline to answer that question” In addition to protecting my ego 😂, I’m so proud & impressed with how hard she worked on this project. Watching your trainees do great things is definitely one of the coolest parts of these meetings!

That’s a wrap for the @ASGEendoscopy Senior Fellows Course 2025! This course was meant to teach fellows on a wide variety of topics that often don’t get touched on enough in training… Ergonomics, Billing, Practice Types, Complications, Financial Planning, Career Development, and more. It was an absolute honor to be a Course Co-Director with #LisaCassani & @ShergillMD. Thank you so much to all the phenomenal faculty and ASGE staff who dedicated their time to help teach fellows. And thank you to the fellows who gave up a weekend in their busy schedules to further enhance their learning and growth. The future of GI is bright!

Today we celebrated a very special 12-year #liverversary for my amazing mentee @anouti_ahmad — a biliary atresia liver transplant recipient, patient advocate, doctor and prolific researcher. His journey inspires us all. Here’s to many more years of health and impact! 🎉 🫶💙

This past week’s GI Grand Rounds was @UTSWMedCenter Third Space Endoscopist & @Parkland Director of Endoscopy, @TomTielleman, giving a talk on everything you’d want to know about big polyps! Optical diagnosis, when to refer, when/where to tattoo/biopsy, & resection techniques!

It’s been a great experience developing the @UTSWGI fellowship sim curriculum. Always a joy teaching techniques in a safe & low stress environment. Big big thanks to @UTSWMedCenter sim center for their collaboration as well as @FujifilmUS for upgrading us with brand new scopes!!
This week we had a phenomenal sim session on all things dilation with Drs. @TomTielleman & @BenElsberndMD. A whirlwind session covering Savary, Balloons, Pneumatic, and Stents w/ fantastic hands on! We also got to break in our fantastic new Fujifilm endoscopes in the sim lab!🎉

Gen GI Fellow Teaching: Do you know the different ways to know how many bands are left on the @bsc_endoscopy banding kit? Fellows are often taught the second to last band is white, but did you know that if you lose track that you can count the knots on the bander at any time?

Fellow teaching: Here's a nice technique I picked up a few years ago from @KMonkemuller for tattooing the GI tract. Create a saline bleb, then switch to tattoo. Ensures tattoo stays in the submucosa & doesn't go to peritoneum. Especially useful in a moving target as shown below

Loved getting a chance to teach our fellows the ins and outs of different clips this morning during their simulation session. Clips sound super simple but every clip has its own unique features to be aware of. Big big thanks to @bsc_endoscopy, @MicroTechEndo, @STERISEndoscopy, @CONMEDCorp, & @CookMedSurg for providing samples for our fellows to learn from!
Clip this: In today’s @UTSWGI fellow’s conference, we went to Clip Class to learn about technique, indication and get hands on experience with many different types of clips led by the pros @ArielAday, @TomTielleman and @tareksawas.
