Logan O'Hoppe after Monday's loss, via @RhettBollinger: "You give everything in this game, and it takes more than it gives. I'm pretty sick to my stomach about it and pissed off. Been pissed off for a while about how things have been going defensively. Been working my ass off to fix it and it's just really frustrating."

People will swear up and down that clutch is a thing, and then when they put together a list of clutch players it’s just a list of all time greats. What does a clutch Wayne Gretzky even look like? They aren’t clutch. They are just good. Period.
THE TOP-10 MOST CLUTCH ATHLETES IN SPORTS HISTORY: 1: Tom Brady
2: Michael Jordan
3: Derek Jeter
4: Patrick Mahomes
5: Reggie Jackson
6: Joe Montana
7: Stephen Curry
8: David Ortiz
9: Wayne Gretzky
10: Mariano Rivera What would you change…?

There’s at least the Herbert logic What was the logic from the 2 Allen voters? It can’t just be the WRs because Maye’s WRs aren’t world beaters either Didn’t win division, worse in stats, great OL and run game. Genuinely how does one vote for Allen over Maye/Staff this year?
I was the Justin Herbert vote. The guy had the worst offensive line in the NFL all season and despite that he was working miracles in almost every single game. Stafford's OL became 2/5ths as bad as Herbert's for 5 minutes and he became a turnover howitzer. He embodied 'value'.

Idk who needs to hear this (wait yes I do - Red Sox fans), but the real player the Red Sox traded Devers to make room for is locked up until 2034, had a 140 wRC , and was a gold glove caliber fielder. His name is Roman Anthony and the revisionist history needs to stop.

If you don’t recognize what the committee just did as corrupt and far worse than not honoring head to head, then you are not a serious person. If your initial reaction is that “Notre Dame should join a conference”, and not “the committee is corrupt”, you are not a serious person.

This will be the last year of the committee

The argument for Miami over Notre Dame is singular - Miami won the head to head. Every single other relevant data point - every single one - favors ND. If you rank Miami ahead of ND b/c of h2h, and only h2h, you also have to rank SMU and Louisville over Miami. Which is dumb.

Well that’s weird, I sought out every ranking system I could find and Miami wasn’t ahead of ND in a single one…. 🧐 @bruce_straughan @J5_Sports1 @dougiesant @RiseNDraft

Notre Dame rates higher than Miami in - every relevant power rating system - game control - average win probability and has outscored their opponents by 6 more points a game despite having the same strength of schedule and Notre Dame going to their backups more often.

Miami deserves to make the playoffs, and there are arguments for them to be ranked over Notre Dame. But there are rational arguments for Notre Dame to be ahead of Miami as well. Pretending Notre Dame doesn’t have a case against Miami is ridiculous. Head to head is not everything

If two good teams played 100 times, the worse one still wins 40 games. Miami is by every metric we know to be predictive the worse team. It is fair to say Miami, despite winning h2h, is still the worse team as the rest of the season indicates. Is Louisville better than Miami? No

1. Ohio State 2. Indiana 3. Georgia 4. Oregon 5. Texas Tech 6. A&M 7. Notre Dame 8. Alabama 9. Miami 10. Oklahoma 11. Ole Miss 12. BYU This is the way. Gets the best teams in and isn’t a ridiculous departure from prior rankings

1/2 When ranking college football teams, you compare who teams played and how well they played them - strength of schedule and average scoring margin. Team | SOS | Avg Mrgn Indiana | 45 | 29.8 Ohio St | 46 | 25.5 Notre Dame | 42 | 24.4 Miami | 44 | 18.3 Ole Miss | 40 | 14.3

2/2 It is easy to make the case that Ole Miss doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs on merit alone. Now they don’t have several of their coaches. The committee, who is in desperate need of more spots for teams in the playoffs, has a really easy solution here.

ACC refs genuinely have no idea what is going on ever. It’s pure entertainment

Alex Cora doesn’t believe in Fried’s reverse splits Or, considering he wrongly claimed Gleyber Torres is pulling the ball more than ever this year (he’s pulling the ball less than ever), maybe Cora is just unaware of Fried’s reverse splits. I wouldn’t put it past him not to know

A lot has been made about the behavior of Americans at the Ryder cup, but nothing is more despicable and less sporting than Europe accepting a half point after their player withdrew because of an injury

As someone who has been vocal since 2022 about Cora being a bad manager, I take great pleasure in watching Cora supporters resort to their final defense - “the manager doesn’t actually matter.” We might as well fire him if he “doesn’t matter”, right? We have won.

Every juror saying they would vote for Kamilla is confirmation they all knew about her “secret” duo with Kyle before it was revealed, right? She reads as a floater if you don’t know about her relationship with Kyle. So either the jury was bitter or they knew (they knew) #survivor
