Quantifying vascular remodeling is beautiful!
So beautiful that it earned Anthony Bruce a 1st in the "UVA Engineering is Beautiful Dean’s Research Art Contest" 🏆 @UVADeanJWest@PeirceLab@UVAEngineers
ALT Fluorescent labeling of endothelial and mural cells in blood vessels within muscle tissue allows for quantification of vascular remodeling occurring in response to induced blood flow changes. This technique helps us to better understand the body's response to vascular diseases. In this example, the vascular mural cell marker used is also present on cells in nerves. Submitted by Anthony Bruce.
“...biotechnology at this institution also encompasses engineering new technologies and devices, not necessarily organisms, that improve human health. Such research has an eye toward helping patients right from the start.” - @rpriceUVA@PriceLabUVaBMEnews.virginia.edu/content/wh…
Congratulations to @mccrady_allison for an “ultra”impressive PhD proposal presentation describing her nicely "form"ed ideas to use ultrasound and modeling to study neuromuscular disease! She also won 1st place at the @UVaBTP symposium poster competition! #onaroll#muscleiscool
Our hearts are broken at the loss of three members of our community, Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis Jr., and D’Sean Perry and our two UVA students currently receiving care from our medical center. Our #UVA family truly appreciates all the support from all over the country today. 🧡
University of Virginia Biotechnology Training Program (BTP) Fall Symposium, “Biotechnology for Women's Health”, showcased great research and impactful translation to the clinic @UVaBTP@UVAEngineers#WomensHealth
The Biotechnology for Women’s Health Symposium is happening NOW! Join us in the Pinn Hall Conference Center for a conversation about challenges & opportunities in women’s health research with our wonderful panelists! @kyokoyoshida@kmyerslab@sepiddsh@UVaBTP
Mark your calendars for the @UVaBTP Symposium on Nov. 11th! This will be an in-person event with a focus on biotechnology for women’s health, and we have an incredible lineup of invited speakers! DM us if you’d like the RSVP link
