My junior school toilet used to be a mess, and maybe it still is. Back then, I didn't even know the proper way to wipe, yet I never had a UTI, I only ensured that I used water.
Saying "you're not allowed to wipe the correct way" weakens the study's conclusions because proper wiping is recommended regardless of whether a toilet is clean or dirty. If wiping technique is not accounted for, it confounds the study. In this case, the source of the UTI may not be the toilet itself, but the transfer of bacteria from the normal flora around the vulva and perineal area to the urethra caused by improper wiping.
I must say I find it amusing that you don't regard the studies that have disproved your claims...
I’ve read quite a number of HCPs repeating “studies and research”. My suggestion is that the female HCPs that support that claim should volunteer themselves for the study. We’ll pick a girls hostel restroom and y’all will use it for a week. You’ll be provided tissues, but you’re not allowed to wipe the correct way after using the toilet.
We’ll let the result of that study determine if women can or can not get UTIs from using dirty toilets.
