The media landscape has changed, Yes, there are real problems - misinformation, safety risks and platforms that don't always act responsibly. But this approach isn't the answer.
To fix these issues, we need to work with the internet, not against it. That means building services that are empowered to tackle misinformation while still respecting people's privacy and freedom online.

This was always the direction human progress was heading. Technology isnβt something to hide from - itβs something we need to take responsibility for and shape to serve the public good.
Young people and plenty of older generations too now live huge parts of their lives online. They learn, organise, create and challenge the ideas that shape society.
We need a digital first mindset in government, one that understands the era we now find ourselves in, that will improve our institutions and infrastructure to keep up.

This is appalling, those that blame this on Family income or target the younger generation don't care about the real issues facing many people. Education training for a system that no longer works or guarantees employment, this together with unrealistic expectations for first time work and the rise of redundancies due to AI is creating disaster for this generation.
