I know I've been gone a while 😔 Toda has been extremely ill recently and had to even have a stay in hospital. He's getting better but he's not quite himself still, so it might take me a little while to get back to my normal level of content.

... what's needed is a proper legal right to reasonable adjustments & the rolling out of Inclusive working practices throughout the UK's employment landscape. A stick approach without creating a workplace that is open to sick & disabled people can never work 3

People aren't faking being sick they are faking being ok. Every time I see someone out in public they ask how am I doing, when I actually start in on the list of things that aren't working they reply always falls to *Well you look great*. Appearances are deceiving.

Something I wish able-bodied people realized about chronic illness is that I am not better if you see me doing things, I am doing that in spite of my illness and I will pay for it heavily later. There is not a single breath I take that I won't owe suffering for later.

Friendly reminder to all my fellow disabled and/or chronically ill friends: You’re not behind in life. You can’t be behind others when we’re all on different paths. I’m sorry that your life plans haven’t gone according to plan. I hope something even better comes from it all.

Things that I’ve actually tried for my chronic illnesses: nearly everything What people think I’ve tried upon hearing that I’m chronically ill: absolutely nothing

Being overwhelmed by positive emotions can lead to meltdowns too, not just negative ones. Lots of joy or excitement can also trigger overload, and that can be even harder to understand. #Autism

My daughter showed me a routine planner app she found for ADHD to ask if she could download it to help her remember things. So when people ask why we want to “label” our children, it’s because at age 10 she already understands her diagnosis & finds ways to help herself

Accommodating disabled people is not giving an advantage to disabled people. It is leveling the playing field to undo discriminatory and exclusionary barriers.

Then imagine if you struggle with it or talk about your reality you are called negative, attention seeking, or whiny when all you want is understanding and acceptance.

1) You know how they say “it takes a village” for when people have kids? I think it takes a village for other things in life too. When you’re chronically ill, temporarily ill, lose a loved one, etc. I feel like everyone needs/wants a village in life. Just not everyone is

Something I’ve learned from the chronic illness/disability community without experiencing it myself is that mobility aids aren’t “sad”, they’re good! They can provide freedom/accessibility. Usually in the chronic illness/disability community we say congrats when someone gets one!

Stop being ignorant about white privilege. It does NOT mean you're racist. It does NOT mean your life has been easy. It does NOT mean you don't face struggles too. It means your life isn't made harder by your skin color. THAT'S IT. HAVE SOME EMPATHY. DON'T MAKE IT ABOUT YOU.

So sad to hear of the passing of #SineadOConnor. Listening to her music this morning and reflecting on the emotions she evoked. She helped raise the profile of #fibromyalgia and #chronicpain and the world is a bit poorer for her absence. Des
