This single dad showed up for what he thought was a normal late-night pizza delivery……but the address wasn’t a house at all. He pulled into a completely empty, dark parking lot and sat there confused. Then another car rolled up. A news reporter stepped out, looked him right in the eyes and asked: “Are you Nick?” What happened next left him speechless. Nick is a recovering addict who’s been sober for six years. He’s raising his 11-month-old baby completely on his own while working two jobs just to keep the lights on. He’s been dreaming of going back to school to study social work so he can give his child a better life. But money has always been tight. That night, a Secret Santa had been watching his story. They handed him a $1,000 Best Buy gift card for a laptop… another $1,000 gift card for baby supplies… and a $7,000 check to cover an entire year of rent. Nick completely broke down in tears from pure gratitude. Stories like this restore your faith in humanity ❤️

If you're shut off, you probably feel shut out. If you don't feel secure in being who you are no matter who's around, you won't feel secure w letting people in. If you criticize yourself harshly, chances are, you criticize the people around you too.

I own a small bakery. Business has been slow. Rent is up. I was thinking about closing. Last Friday, a teenager came in. He looked nervous. He counted out change for a cookie. He was short 50 cents. "It's okay," I said. "Take it." He ate it at a table, looking at his math homework. He looked stuck. I used to be a math tutor. I walked over. "Quadratic equations?" He nodded. "I don't get it." I sat down and helped him for 20 minutes. He got it. He left smiling. The next day, he came back with two friends. They bought cookies. The day after that, five kids came. Apparently, he told the school, "The lady at the bakery helps with homework." Now, my bakery is the after-school hang-out spot. It's loud. It's messy. There are backpacks everywhere. Yesterday, I found a note in the tip jar. It was wrapped around a $20 bill. "Thanks for helping my son pass math. A Mom." I'm not closing the bakery. I think I finally found my purpose. It's not cookies. It's community.

You did the work. So why do you STILL feel like shit when life hits hard. Because healing is not immunity. It is shortening the time between activation and regulation. I wrote a simple protocol to clear the charge, separate facts from shame stories, and choose values.

It isn't surprising at all. Maybe not. Considering this point. Everyone is afraid of the truth. Afraid to dig below the surface. Afraid to show up.

Is it? Or does that make a lot of sense in a culture that is surface level and scared of what’s below?

19 yrs of sobriety and healing and I can still say that nothing is worth sacrificing the peace that comes with a clear conscience. In doing what is right, owning mistakes, continuing to learn & unlearn, saying sorry, & living w transparency. Nothing to hide feels really good.

28-year-old former Dutch pro soccer player Kenzo Biyong moved Mitchel, a young man with autism, from a mental health facility into his home with his wife & two young kids, changing Mitchel’s life. Grab tissues. Imagine if American jocks were raised to spend their 20s doing this!

The hardest cravings to manage? The ones that show up during joyful moments. Because nobody teaches you how to feel good WITHOUT numbing yourself first.

A craving isn't a sign that you're failing; it is just data. It is information. When we approach that feeling with curiosity instead of shame, we stop fighting ourselves and start learning what we actually need in that moment.

Months, or years, sober and still romanticizing alcohol?
You are not broken.... your brain is doing what it learned. In my free Cravings workshop I will show you why cravings hit, why they move to sugar or work, and the exact tools to turn triggers into choices.
