Duck Duos: Abby and Kelsey π¦π
Kelsey and Abby met through a random Instagram DM before freshman year and decided to become roommates in Justice Bean Hall. What started with dining hall dinners, late-night talks and first-year memories grew into a friendship that feels more like sisterhood.
From studying abroad in Copenhagen to living together again senior year, UO has been part of every chapter.
βShe was my random roommate who turned out to be my other half,β Abby said.

Duck Duos: Mary and Dim π¦π
This duo met three years ago in their introduction to chemical principles class when they were both STEM majors. What started as a brief interaction eventually grew into one of the most meaningful friendships of their college experience after they discovered they had grown up only ten minutes away from each other.
Throughout their time at UO, Mary and Dim encouraged each other to pursue new opportunities and embrace unexpected paths. Their friendship played a significant role in shaping both of their academic and professional journeys, especially as they explored creative careers after leaving STEM. Mary introduced Dim to the advertising industry, while Dim inspired Mary to pursue art direction.
Their friendship became a source of support, encouragement, and growth throughout college. βMore than anything, weβve always been a reminder to each other that itβs okay to take a different path. Whether you call it yin and yang or Bonnie and Clyde, we've always had someone beside us saying, 'Go for it. What is there to lose?'β they said.
Reflecting on their friendship, they credit the UO with creating the environment that brought them together and helped them grow into the people they are today.

Thanks to a landmark $15 million lead gift by the Tykeson Family Foundation, UOβs new child behavior building has been named the Tykeson Child Behavioral Health Building. UO President Scholz announced this recognition during the groundbreaking ceremony at the @UOregonPortland campus today.
The Tykeson Family Child Behavioral Health Building will expand access to evidence-based care while preparing a new generation of highly skilled mental health professionals to serve youth across Oregon, with a focus on communities where services are most needed.
